just want to say: check charity shops!!! i did earlier, someone had given a whole bunch of those small smelly bottles - shampoo, conditioner, handlotion, etc etc. and the charity shop was selling them for 25p each - i ended up buying almost all they had just for stockings!!

also great for "different" containers for holding gift packs and things like that, like large glass vase or something, especially good for older relatives who don't need the "cool" factor that come from the most up to date style of vase..

Diamond ring keyrings, with a pink or clear stone. They come in a gorgeous little gift bag too. I bought some last year for some girlfriends and they loved them. I think delivery is free at the moment, also, because I ordered a few, I emailed them and asked for a discount and got them a bit cheaper. Here is the link for them http://www.jjjewellery.com/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=149
and the web address is https://www.jjjewellery.com

tescos have a lot of 'when its gone its gone' stock for £1 at the mo which would be ideal for stockings/ very cheap pressies... candles, hair band sets, picture frames, bath loofah sets etc.

they're in big black and white boxes around the store

From what I can remember of our stockings :
    • An apple
    • An orange/tangie
    • Bag of chocolate coins (always at the bottom of the stocking ;) )
    • colouring book
    • Crayons
    • Small toy
    • Hair bobbles etc.
    • Mum always put a chocolate Santa :D
Can't remember what else of the top of my head.

I pretty much had the same stuff except for the hair bobbles and the choccy santa but my mum put a handful of coppers at the bottom of my stocking! :rudolf:

might be a bit mundane, but a pack of cards is always a good extra.

Great to have a set lying around for when the kids get bored with the expensive toys.

oxfam have got some lovely gifts in at the mo, and of course, these gifts give twice, because the money you pay helps oxfam support people in the developing world.

i bought myself a lovely satin-esque jewellery wrap for £4.99. they had music clips (in the shape of various notes/instruments) for about £3, playing cards in a special wooden box, noughts and crosses, trinket boxes and a really cute button picture frame.

on the whole, the prices were very reasonable. if even we all just bought one small thing from there for a stocking, it would make christmas a lot easier for someone in a poorer country

of course, they also have the traditional christmas affair - advent candles and the like.

oh, and its now officially christmas..... BHS have got their stock out, and its like being in a grotto. they have sooooo many fab gift ideas and decorations that its well worth cancelling whatever you had planned for tomorrow to go and have a look :D
