    Morning all

Bathroom done - floor to mop in there, also done landing (dusting/vacuuming) including light fitting.
Sunny here (well the front is) so washing on line:D although the sun hasn't got round the back yet.

DD off school (usual tummy trouble) we've had a few months 'free' of this, she has been coping, but she has complained of pain low down. I know exactly how she feels, she's in bed and asleep again.

I am going to meet my retired colleague later, who is taking me for a birthday lunch, but I am sure DD will be fine for a couple of hours.

One odd thing - must have been majorly 'damp' because ALL my windows were covered in condensation this morning - even my bedroom window - yet that was OPEN all night...so they have all been opened, wiped if necessary and I have the back door open too, in an attempt to 'dry' the house out. The family who lived here before used a dehumidifier - until last night I have always solved the (usually minor) condensation problem by ventilating...

Anyway kitchen beckons, after I have sent second important e mail...

    e mail sent

    HHC @ 10:15 anyone?

  • The charity shop jacket and tights I got today to dress DS3 up as Shakespeare in are fantastic on him. Just need to sort out a shirt with a big square collar and to hem some shorts to puff them up.

    For now though ironing.

Any chance of a pic please :) I often take them without the head, for reasons of privacy ;)

Right - got the bin bag. I am just hoping I can make a dint in it. My bf will be bloody amazed if I can.

    How did you get on?

The best bet is now have 15 minutes break - and then we will go again at 10.45 for another half an hour if you (and anyone else!) want to join HollyH and me. You can clear anything in half hour blocks, you just have to break it down into sections. You wont fix it overnight but you can make a huge difference. Dont get sucked into detail, clear the big stuff first so then you can hoover. Put some music on nice and loud to keep you going, it really helps. Work fast - it is boring so get it over and done with as quickly as you can.

DW emptied, and now back on empty with some soda crystals in to clean it out, WM on. I started at the back door - so if the collection person arrives I am not ashamed. So quick tidy up of the path, and some junk into the bin/recycling, then washed the backdoor and cleaned the windows/mirror. Back hall tidied, and dog mud removed from walls and WM. Quick wipe round the cloakroom. Kitchen windows cleaned and cat snot removed, much to the disgust of George Don't Do That who is now busy smearing herself back on the window. Skidded into my seat with a cup of tea....

Okay - I've done half an hour and blow me down it's really really helped. I know this probably sounds obvious but I really didn't think it would. I have move all the carp from the living room to where it should be (or at least in the room it should be), put a wash on, hoovered the living room, cleaned the front room windows and glass top coffee table and mirror, I have a pile of paper work (found in various places around the house) and I've empty the bin and bin bag into the outside bin. WOW WOW WOW - it really worked. My living room is 'almost' done!

Thank you do much for the encouragement.

    Hi Sazzy!

How did you get on? [ETA: Our postings crossed: GO YOU!!!!!! Fantastic!!! :T]

Hex2 is dead right: first thing is just to clear a little space in one room somewhere. Put big things away, fill a neat cardboard box with the small difficult stuff or fill a binbag (for charity or to chuck out). Collect all the clothes that need washing, maybe.

Then if you've managed to clear a table or a chair, dust it if you fancy doing it, make a cuppa, admire what you have done, and plan to do another little area (preferably one which joins onto it) after you've taken a break. Small half-hour bursts are best when you feel overwhelmed. And put the radio on if you think that will get you happy and moving.

    In my rather-more-than-HHBlitz I've

    - Cleared away the stuff drying on the stove top
    - Emptied the compost bin
    - Put the quilt on to wash
    - Put loo cleaner down the loo
    - Scrubbed the baking potatoes and put them in the oven
    - Made stew and put it in too
    - Found my apple-cake recipe and picked some apples to make it with
    - Sorted DH's computer problems....

Cuppa now - then back to make onion soup and apple cake.

Livingroom now cleared of clothes, pj's, toys, rubbish and wellies. Why is it so hard to put them in the basket as the front door. ????...

I know - and why does my DH put his dirty clothes on the floor next to the basket?

and where have all of DS2s socks gone? answers on a postcard please.....

eta Miss H - apple cake recipe please! I still have hundreds of cooking apples to process.

Oh yes! Up for that. In another half an hour I can finish off the living room, put things up the attic (I bought some new table lamps for when I decorate the bedroom) and maybe even make a dent in the kitchen! :T
