Anyone trying to lose weight for their wedding?

  • I found the best thing that works for me (aside from the three stone i lost when i got divorced) was to just eat really sensibly and exercise, which is essentially what these weight loss schemes are getting you to do. By having to write down or think about everything you eat, either in points or sins or whatever, it's essentially just making you really consider it, and probably not eat the bad thing. I don't need a dieting book to tell me that a lion bar is bad for me, but when i'm using the dieting book i actualy think about it, and don't want to have to write the points down, so i don't eat it.

Once i got the hang of that i saved a fortune on weight watchers and did it myself. If you write down everything you eat you soon can't be bothered to eat all the extras you shouldn't be eating.

    Sorry that was rambly!

Not been around for a bit, but would totally agree with this. I've basically been doing this & have managed to see results in just over 2 weeks! I downloaded an iphone app called my fitness pal, which I complete religiously, it's also online HERE

Aswell as this, I've been doing a zumba class weekly, can't really follow it for the life of me, but hey ho! It's exercise! Been doing a bit of wii fit and some sit ups too. Already I can feel the difference in my clothes, which is a great motivator! Have lost 4lbs so far in just over 2 weeks!

Best of all.... still having a little spritzer on an evening, just more soda than wine than I'd normally have! :D

Very sensible advice about writing everything down, I've just got a fancy new phone and I think I saw that app so I'll have to download it and fill it in!

I'm not quite sure what's come over me, after joining the gym last week and absolutely wrecking myself on my first visit I went back on Monday but couldn't go last night as I was seeing my parents but I actually wanted to go to the gym and felt bad that I didn't go! I never want to work out! I'm going tonight and I'm hoping that this whole wanting to exercise thing sticks, will make it a lot easier! I think the thought that I have my first dress fitting next month is helping too!

I've got that iphone app too, it's really good for helping me keep track of what I eat during the day, although I don't always fill it in...

I really want to try Zumba but I can't find a class near me :(

I want to find time to go to a class. I leave for work at 7.15, and am barely conscious then, so going to the gym before work is a no. I leave at about 6 and get home about 6.45. I do Guides one night a week. I'm knackered most of the time, i don't knwo when I'd fit it in. I know, weekends, but i do catch up stuff, and am trying to cycle then.

I did the London to brighton this year and am hoping to do it again next year as long as it's not while we're away.

Ohhh I have sinned...I have been stuck in all day training courses at work the past 3 days and just pigged on the cakes and biscuits they laid on. And tonight I went shopping, got nothing I wanted so consoled myself with a cheese and ham pancake and then later 2 Millie's cookies. On the plus side I trekked miles round the Trafford Centre so think I must've done some good in the process...well that's what I'm hoping anyway!

I've been to the gym 3 times this week and I'm planning on going again tonight, already feeling slightly firmer around my legs and bum so I'm sticking to it until I'm firm all over! I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 2lbs in the last week and a half, which is good! But I'm still 8 lbs heavier than my OH thinks I am... :o

I really need to go shopping for sensible food though, it's hard to eat properly when all we have is odd bits of junk in the cupboards!

My good work continues!! Another 1lb lost, so just 4 more to go and I'll be happy! Whoooop! Then to maintain being 9st until the wedding next year!!

I can totally feel the difference in my clothes.... I feel a shopping trip coming on for a new wardrobe! (not very MSE, but gonna have to be done!)

Anyways..... Zumba classes listed HERE! :D

Would like to join this thread now as I've been told by 2-3 people (including myself!) that I CAN lose weight before the wedding and it will help me in the long run......that and my mum has ordered me a dress two sizes smaller than I currently am (bad bet I know!)

Currently a size 26 (totally shameful for me!) weight......currently unknown but at last weigh-in was about 20stone but this was in August I think :(

Hinting at OH to help me lose weight (he is HALF my body weight) which makes me feel MUCH MUCH worse as he can eat whatever he likes and not seem to put a pound on :(

Local slimming world classes are no good for me as I have prior engagements at the times they are on. I will be OK come the beginning of December though as I will be able to get to the most local one as I'll be leaving college and will have LOADS of spare time until the wedding.

I'm not bothered about the weight issue, it's my shape more than anything I need to change. I've always been "on the heavy side" and I have no one to blame but myself for this!
