Went to the gym 3 times last week and twice this week already. On the negative side I've been sabotaging my efforts by munching Halloween candy and cake. I have no willpower.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Hi Guys,
I have been kind of playing around with slimming world for the last few weeks or so, but not taking it that seriously and seriously falling down on the odd glass of wine or two.
But now that I have potentially about to set a date for July/August 2012 ( I know ages away) I feel I really need to commit to something.
If I am honest I probably need to be about 4 stone lighter. Is Slimming World a good way to lose that amount of weight? Also I love the look of lots of their meals (and did cook a very yummy Slimming World version of roast dinner last Sunday), but they all seem to involve a lot of cooking from scratch. Don't get me wrong I love cooking its just finding the time to it and for that matter to shop for all the ingredients. I work full time and am often back from work late. Also, we only have a couple of days when OH's ex has the kids (normally a Monday and Tuesday evening just to be awkward) and we often pop out for a meal.
Can I ask how others doing Slimming world manage:
do you cook loads/in bulk and freeze?
What do you eat when out and about?
For info: I don't get chance to go to a group, but have joined on line.
Thanks Guys.0 -
Hi Hadley - I find slimming world a great way to lose weight, so long as you stick to it. Organisation is definitely the key - I normally cook quite a lot at the weekend and freeze things to defrost during the week. I find you can adapt most meals to suit the SW rules - I have curries, lasagna, chilli, spag bol, roasts, soups, stews, burger and chips etc. and my OH can't believe that it is 'diet' food (particularly when I give him the burger and chips - but its all made from free food!). Pasta with a tomato and basil sauce, or a veggie couscous are good mid-week options when you want something quickly.
When I'm out and about, I try and find healthy things, e.g. ask for boiled potatoes instead of chips, steak without the sauce, a tomato based pasta, etc. I find SW a really good diet for eating out, because you can still be sensible. I then just count a few extra syns for the meal to take account of any oil, etc. that has been used in cooking.Getting married 12/11/2011

Thanks so much.
You are right organisation is definately the key.
Must just get on with it. Sounds like it will just take some getting used to - my OH was very impressed when i showed him the Slimming World mixed grill. he he!!
have to say - that was one of the reasons I was attracted to it, asit does look like real food and something you could do long term.
I think my biggest worry is how to resist the temptation of glass or two - especially when out and about
But hey I need to look stunning on the wedding day - so at least i have something to work to.
have never dieted before - did you find the weight came off fairly easily with Slimming World? I know, I know it will depend on whether I've been good or bad.0 -

You can still have the odd glass or two - just make sure you count them within your syns!
I've lost about 2 stone with SW in the past, the only problem is I stopped, starting eating all the rubbish again and put it all back on. I'm just getting back on track now though.Getting married 12/11/2011

Hadley - I do slimming world and find it works and fits into my lifestyle. Stir frys with rice or couscous or omlettes with slimming world chips are good for when time is short. I have lost just over a stone so far and would like to lose another half.0

I found the best thing that works for me (aside from the three stone i lost when i got divorced) was to just eat really sensibly and exercise, which is essentially what these weight loss schemes are getting you to do. By having to write down or think about everything you eat, either in points or sins or whatever, it's essentially just making you really consider it, and probably not eat the bad thing. I don't need a dieting book to tell me that a lion bar is bad for me, but when i'm using the dieting book i actualy think about it, and don't want to have to write the points down, so i don't eat it.
Once i got the hang of that i saved a fortune on weight watchers and did it myself. If you write down everything you eat you soon can't be bothered to eat all the extras you shouldn't be eating.
Sorry that was rambly!saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.

White_sapphire - edit done.
I've been to the gym a few times this week but am the same as someone else said, i've just sabotaged it when i get home! Really really need to get on top of the eating as can manage the exercise part most of the time!0 -
Thanks guys
Lots of inspiration there.
Might give Slimming World a proper go. Will let you know how I get on... if anyone is interested.
i know that when I start to see some results I 'll just want to keep going its just that initial motivation i'm lacking. Need to book the date then I'll have that to work to.0 -
hi everyone,
I joined slimming world last week after all the recommendations on these threads-it is really easy to follow, and £4.95 for the group sessions isn't much at all because they are so useful. I lost 2lb this week and am hoping to maintain that-it would mean a stone by christmas! it's also a really good to be able to talk to others and share ideas and problems etc. It definately made me think about how much rubbish i was eating. Would be easy to follow on your own though-loads of pasta, potatoes, rice, fruit and vegetables, a little bit of fibre, a little bit of dairy and very little junk food.Weight loss 2015: -4lbs January (thanks flu):wall:
