Road tax is it a joke? Where can I complain.

This is slightly off-topic a little, but why pay for a month of unneeded tax? I'm probably missing stuff, as I'm skim-reading, but I can purchase tax from whichever day during the month, and it's effective from that date- I've rarely been issued a tax disc that starts at the beginning of a month.
As I said, somebody feel free to point out to me the obvious bit I'm missing (and I'll try not to skim-read again!)
So if you buy it on the last day of the month you only get 11 months and 1 day for the same price that others pay for 12 months.0 -

NI may be different then to England- mine runs for a straight 12 months, and was bought on the 22nd of the month. Went back through older ones, they're the same- I get 12 months regardless of when I buy it.
We have a slightly different tax system though to rest of UK, this looks like another oddity.

When exactly did I say that?
Errr...you kind of inferred it hereAn Insurance company will always pay out for the other party, though they might try and get the money back if they deem you have acted incorrectly.though have heard of some people getting nicked when drivning a car without an MOT and therefore no Insurance
Pretty misleading I would have said.if a copper pulls you over for no MOT then he may just charge you with no Insurance, that doesn't mean the charge will stick or the CPS will or won't drop the case, but it surely means that you will have to walk home and you will have a large bill for the impound and tow.
You've lost me?? Not having a MOT does not invalidate motor insurance so why would anyone be charged?Lets not confuse case law or the opinion of the ombudsman with what actually happens in the real world,
But the ombudsman is the real world & has ruled on this subject... as has been pointed out several times recently.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Nor are Asda, Tesco, etc but they manage to stay open very nearly 24/7 for the convenience of their customers. Government offices etc open for their own convenience, not their customers.0 -

Why on earth would he do that?
Pulls you over for one thing and then charges you for another... is that what you are saying?
So if you get pulled for speeding, and PC Plod sees you have 2 bald tyres, he aint gonna do you for them as well?˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ

can i just ask why the dealer you bought it off didn't tax it for you? did i miss something as this would have been the most obvious thing to do.
there were plans a few years ago to allow mot testing stations to issue road tax but then again most of them don't open on a sunday either'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0
