  • Hi all,
good to see you back JackieG, Csarina hope your OH is ok, and Nicola its such early days yet ,if you feel like having a howl then do so its part of the healing process of grieving and better for you that bottling it up.
weather is damp and miserable here at the moment, very grey and autumnal.I managed to get all of my ironing done this morning at least and even put away. Not much else OS though, I'm shortly off to DDs to play board games with the little ones and find out how DGS Jack got on in his exam yesterday.Only 5 more days of the wretched bandages so at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. My therapist is running in a half marathon today at Greenwich at least he won't be too hot. <<Hugs>> to those in need
    Cheers lovelies JackieO xx
P.S.at least you've dipped you toe into the water flutterbyuk, onwards and upwards
  • Hi everyone!
Flutterby-at least he wasn't awful and you might have made a good friend (and who knows you might come to fancy him!)
    Csarina-hope your OH is ok.
I've had a morning of washing-loads of ironing to get done now though. Made a pork casserole thats going to be with mash and peas today and then I'll add some curry paste tomorrow and we'll have it with rice. I've finally got the last of the crab apples cooked and dripping-can't wait to get all this jam/jelly making behind me and move onto chutney. I have some green tomatoes that'll do nicely-never made it before but it doesn't look too difficult.
I'm hoping to make an inventory of my freezers tomorrow-I hate that job, but they are both full and we WILL eat out of them this month(and probably next) to keep the costs down. Once I know whats in there I shall try and meal plan for the month. Think thats one of the main ways I have gone awry in the past few months.
Hope everyone is having a productive or relaxing sunday.

Hope your DH gets better and is home soon.

Made kofta kebabs with roast potatoes and lots of veg for lunch with some leftover beef stew only for DH to tell me I cooked too much and should put less on plates and let everyone ask for seconds  So much for trying to make sure everyone got a cooked meal by 12.30 and rushing round like a fool!!!

DH is now on his second (huge serving plate) of pea soup and seems to be enjoying it. Did not get told I had made too much of that!;)

Made youngest dd scrambled egg on toast for tea and will see what the other two want later on.

We get new wood window blinds fitted on Tuesday so should help keep house cosy. Still need to get light fittings for most of the house but DH wants to get other things done first. Still annoyed at how much it is going to cost to make up for the things the vendors took from the house.

Need to replace a shower for an electric one as we can't keep having five people use ours and also check the dodgy valve near tank as I have a bad feeling about what standards of safety are. Might nag er convince H it is his idea to look at showers or light fittings tomorrow.

DH has spent most of the day either working in the garden or hammering in the garage and is pleased as punch with having a garden and garage at last.

    Hug to all

  • I am stuffed :o
My mum did a lovely spread for her birthday. Ended up eating pavlova and trifle for pud. Needless to say tea will be something light otherwise I shall be sick _pale_ And I wonder why I don't lose any weight

So am knackered after running round after 4 kids and making endless cups of coffee/tea - my mum had a good time so that's the main thing.

nicola - So sorry to hear about your dad. Thinking of you all xx

NPM - Hope you are feeling better soon. I like Yazoo :D

Bargainbird - Oooh I want to see Downton Abbey. So does H but I think that's more to do with Sarah Jane Honeywell being in it ;) Put on some warm clothing before you catch your death LOL!

Flutterby - Glad you had a good date. Shame you don't fancy him but hey ho that's life.

    Have a good evening :)

Flutterby well done on the date, it must take a lot of guts to meet someone new, glad you had a good time.
JackieG good to see you again, one step at a time and big deep breaths.
Nicola so sorry for your loss. Crying is indeed part of the grieving process so let it all out.
Csarina hope OH is on the mend and home soon.

Another glorious day here although there was a white frost this morning! I have finished decorating the 'big' living room, I can barely move my arms and neck but I am really proud of myself. I should really be putting all the furniture back but can't be ar**d tonight anyway there seems to be a lot of paint on the floor, at least it's wood and will clean tomorrow.

Have also cleaned all the bathrooms thoroughly (a good soapy stardrops wash), cleaned out the chooks and line dried the washing. Had a yucky ready meal for tea and a glass of home made wine which has given me an instant headache!

Hope you have all had a good Sunday and enjoy your evening. Take care XX

Nicola, big hugs to you XXX

Well did all my cleaning, just the hoovering and floors to mop quickly during the X Factor (don't worry, my flat is tiny!)

Never saw my movie but did get an eyetest and my eyes are worse than ever so new lenses are ordered.

All the recycling is out, including the wretched bottles and flat lovely. Summer clothes either binned (the poor wouldn't want them!) or under the bed in the vaccum bag. Done, so time for X Factor!

Yesterday my weekend guest and I went to North Berwick for a fuddle round the charity shops, we bought a couple of things. Stopped off on the way home to get a hot chocotale and scone.
OH was ready to go off to his bowls competition whist we had a girly afternoon knitting, chatting and drinking tea. I was just starting to cook the supper when the door bell went, it was one of the ladies from the bowls club to say that OH had a funny turn and because his heartbeat was so slow they had called an ambulance. I had to turn off the supper, leave K and hot foot it to the bowls club.
OH was to say the least not looking too clever, he had asked to be laid on the floor but the chaps would not lie him down. We got him on the floor as the ambulance pulled in, I was very annoyed when they cut straight through his support stockings to put ECG leads on, I knew he was having one of his usual attacks, but of course what I had to say was disregarded and they carted him off to hospital. Some idiot had given him co-codomol which he should not take, he has had stomach ulcers and its one of the drugs that is a no no. I drove back home to make sure K was ok, collected some stuff and went hot foot to the hospital. It was 9.30 before he was seen having arrived at 6.30pm and they decided to admit him, by this time he was sitting up and asking to come home, however he stayed and I drove home.We sat talking till idnight.

This morning I rang the hospital and was told that OH had been seen by the consultant and given the all clear, both his chest XRay and blood tests were ok, so we went in and collected him.
This afternoon we went to Prestonpans to see the tapestry, I have taken a video, I need to find out how to put it on the net. OH went to bed for a sleep, he said he had slept last night but his obviously had not really rested, he was just getting up when we got back.

Supper tonight was roast shoulder of lamb, roast potato's cauliflower and calebrese and sauce made from the red whine the meat had been marinading in for two days. I was going to make a lemon meringue pie, but events over took me so we had peaches and cream instead. We are gradually paking things up for our journey tomorrow. I just hope that OH is ok whilst we are away......
I am shattered.... did not sleep so well last night.......
