OS Daily for Sunday 26 September 2010

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 26 September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all

Dark & cold here in God's own county, heating on this morning - well, got baby & toddler up since 0600 today!

Going to see one of DH's relatives in Brid today, having lunch there, & will use loads of petrol, so not very OS, but hope to have nice long walk on beach if it doesn't rain! Taking snacks etc for us, so we only have to buy lunch & nothing else.

Will be tea time at least when we're home, so probably no OS going on today, except a bit of washing up & ironing!

Have a smashing Sunday, everyone, will try & pop back before we go, or else tonight.

Hugs, kisses, congrats, high fives..... :kisses::grouphug::coffee::bdaycake::beer: .... take your pick!

  • Good Morning all, I don't think I have ever been the 2nd poster! I am up way to early for the time I went to bed, just can't sleep, so I'm hoping I will feel sleepy enough to go back to bed in a bit. OH and I are going to look at toilets today and hopefully buy one!!! Roast chicken for tonight but nothing else planned xxx
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!
  • Good Morning Cheapskate, Jellybaby & all to follow.

We too have our heating on Cheapskate! Its very cold and windy today.

Today is going to be a 'get organised day'. Because of my job training everything needs doing . OH has been trying to keep on top but........well he is a man :rotfl:

DW on, WM on. All unifroms to be washed and ironed though hope to clear the whole ironing pile too. Bathrooms to be cleaned, downstairs to be hoovered and washed throughout. Have homework to do and some essential business stuff. Also want to pop to Aldi for a few bits. Menu plan for the week to be done and would like to do some baking but really not sure if that will happen.:o

DS and his friends had a good time at Pleasurewood Hills yesterday though we did have a lot of rain :( they enjoyed it but I was sure glad to get home.

Also got a new gadget this week, a Worrall Thompson pie maker. Have fancied one for ages and my catalogue sent me a code so I decided to treat myself. Will have a look at it today and maybe make some pastry, use the cutters provide and pop it into the freezer. Then hopefully will be able to make pies with leftovers within about 20mins!

No pies for dinner today though, have a bit of beef in the freezer so will get that out and have tonight.

Off now to make another coffee, have a great Sunday.x

Morning here, first morning we have had ground frost this autumn, scraping car windows will be on the cards. DGS is up with the lark, today, but sleeps longer at his own house!!! Will get the w/m on shortly, soup in the s/c and the d/w is already on. Yesterday was a busier day than planned, got an SOS from my sister to help in the kitchen at the relay for life in Arbroath, as she was doing all the catering with one other person, within two hours there were three catering pots of soup made, four pots of stovies - I dont mind helping but dont do serving so if I see another pot of stovies this week I will scream. definately being OS cook helped yesterday!
Not sure what I will do with DGS today as the sun is out, but will probably go to a place called Active Kids which is a huge indoor and outdoor play area with trampolines, climbing frames, tractors etc - let's get the benefit of the last of the autumn sun.
    Have a good day,
    Suzy

    Morning all

Wet, wild windy and cold here - that will be the start of Winter then. Relented yesterday and turned the heating on, DH came home and said it was warmer outside than in the house - so heating was turned on!

Plans went a bit wrong yesterday as he was much later back than we expected so after doing the jobs/visiting parents etc it was too late to cook roast beef - that has gone into the freezer and we had a non OS takeaway - but it was really nice, the best we've had for ages. Will be having the roast on Wed eve, had menu planned a roast or casserole - so won't be wasted.

DS1 & 2 will be going to Rugby practice in a while, so will have a walk to A**i to have a look at the bargains, won't buy anything tho! Boys going out with dad later to watch Banger racing in next town, DH and I going to find where my course is next week, then we will drop in on his cousin that lives out that way - will be nice to catch up as haven't seen them since nan's funeral in June.

Didn't get any more cooking/baking done yesterday but did get small pile of ironing done and changed our bed, did all the washing and get it all line dried - so not an entirely wasted day! Back to work tomorrow - deep joy! Car tax due this week, but have managed to save the money separately for this so will need to get it at some point.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

  • Good Morning :)

Sunny in Glasgow today, the skies are clear and gorgeous.

Thank you all very much for the kind messages in PMs and on FB, My inbox was quite full this morning.:) Its nice to know you have been thinking of me, although I do feel a bit of an attention seeker! :o

I am feeling pretty much the same to be honest, but I am trying just to get through the days. Its a holiday weekend here, and the boys are off school until Wednesday, and OH is off yesterday and today, which is a real treat, although he has man-flu, and his sneezing was driving me insane last night, I swear he does it deliberately! I am off out shortly to the carboot sale for some time on my own, and today I need to go collect my kitchen light which I have been waiting for to come off the display in Homebase for ever. I also need to book DS1's birthday party for next Sunday, so hopefully I'll keep busy and distracted today. In fact writing this wee list has focussed my mind. :)

Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs ButterflyBrain.

Hugs to everyone whether in need or not.

nmlc, so sorry to hear about the little girl, how devastating for everyone around her, I'll be thinking lots of positive thoughts for them all.xxx

Morning all. All go here today - phew. Went out last night to an Indian evening. Lovely food, indian quiz and a bollywood film all for £10 at the local village hall. Great evening - even OH enjoyed himself (I had to drag him out!). DW, BM and WM on, also TD as it is cold and horrid here and we have visitors over today. Turkey in the oven, cakes iced - no its not Christmas! But I thought that turkey would be the simplest way of feeding everyone and getting value for money - so hope to have at least half left which I will slice for the boys packed lunches next week.

Ought to take the dogs out before visitors arrive and need to get carrots and veg from the market. Better get on. Hugs to all xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
