Yay! The Labour party just voted themselved out of power for the next electoral term. Have to be careful though, David could be their second choice when they ditch Ed... and the force is strong in that one.

    Ed Miliband's policies

    TAX
Wants to increase tax on the rich, keep 50 per cent top rate permanently and impose a new £5 billion a year tax on banks.

    ECONOMY
Backs a "responsible" opposition to coalition cuts, and wants more emphasis on tax rises. Backs creation of a "living wage" of £7.60 an hour, as a minimum. Wants government to actively encourage growth industries.

    FOREIGN/DEFENCE
Says UK should not automatically follow the US path on global affairs, and that Labour should no longer defend Iraq war decision. Believes Afghanistan "cannot be a war without end" and that negotiations must begin with the Taleban in Afghanistan.

    ENVIRONMENT
Wants international binding climate emissions cuts and a Green investment bank.

    LAW and ORDER
Backs plans to replace jail with community sentences

FACT - Truly in thrall to international Marxism.

Some of his views, such as tax and the economy, as well as foreign policy, are laudable. On law and order, and the environment, he is clearly loopy.

Elections are not necessarily won from the centre - look at 1945! Labour was a lot more left wing than now and still won a landslide. Even under Harold Wilson Labour was much more to the left than the current lot, including Ed Miliband. Politics should be about giving people choice, not pushing essentially the same policies under different hats. Otherwise it's just a beauty contest.

Ok - you've got your left wing candidate and obviously don't care that I can't bring myself to vote for him. Enjoy.

Rubbish. There are already thousands of unemployed skilled IT people in Britain, whose jobs have been taken by overseas outsourcers. The skills largely exist in abundance, and where they don't the knowledge can be imparted in training courses. The real problem is this obseession with driving down costs - at any cost.

Are you talking about companies or governments?

Presumably the commission would lay down guidelines how private companies are allowed to compensate their employees. But bigger overheads on compliance related activities is not really what the private sector needs right now, or ever.

How true that is. That's why I won't be able to vote for him. That and not paying down the deficit....or rather "not" paying down the deficit.

and sadly Ed doesn't seem to believe that there is any urgency in cutting spending - which shows you that you can have a first class in degree and still be thick..... but I doubt his degree was in Economics...
    it was actually PPE
  • If the conservatives didn't see ed miliband as a potential threat they would not be so desperate to paint the labour leader as being far left(which he isn't)
I think as time goes on he will make a formidable opponent against cameron.
    I agree with you

I doubt he is going to close all jails.

Ed Miliband seems to be member of the creed that government is the answer to everything. Why else would he support crazy ideas like this:

I think it has a simple answer, he was after Union votes, look how Cleggy has become a hatchet wielding Tory after a sniff of power icon7.gif
