No need to shout, be rude, wind up or anything else. Having worked within a call centre enviornment, I can see why some cold callers/sales people get harsh and rude. It's because it's all they get, in return for going to work and getting paid a wage instead of scrounging off the state.
Have some heart people.
If they ignore that and call you back?
Then be as rude as you want

Let's make one thing perfectly clear: Cold calling is rude and intrusive. It preys on peoples insecurities that the call might be important.
Let's say I am having a coffee with a friend and we are engaged in deep conversation. Then you walk along and butt in wanting to sell some rubbish. Is that polite? Is that acceptable behaviour? That's what cold callers do. They stop you in the middle of whatever you are doing, interrupt your social time with your friends, family and children because they feel their service is more important and the justification that they are earning a wage and not on the dole. Get real. Cold callers whether from small companies or national companies are a menace.
Why does it matter? Why can't you ignore it?:
(1) Well in my case I work from home and every time you call you are interrupting my work for which I am trying to do well and being paid for. So in interrupting you are saying that what you are doing is more important than me providing for my family.
(2) I have 2 daughters at school. The school doesn't display their number on caller ID because they don't want missed calls redialling their reception and not knowing who in the school called them - understandable. So I can't ignore withheld/no number calls in case one of my children are sick and need me to pick them up.
If you work as a cold caller you accept the range of emotions directed back at you. If you cannot accept it then don't do the job. If I worked as a sewer maintenance worker I don't complain about the smell of poo. Deal with it.The man without a signature.0 -
I wouldn't be rude either, it is just a poor soul doing their job. I just say 'thanks its not for me, byeeeeee'With love, POSR

I can accept 'its a job' but if they cant accept that you are not interested, that's where it gets annoying.. I had one from BT the other day trying to 'save me money on my phone and broadband' because I'm with another provider. I guess BT are exempt from the TPS because they are always ringing me.
I politely told the girl there was no point me changing my current package as I am going abroad for a few months soon and will be having the phone disconnected during that time.
Either she didn't get what I just said or was being plain ignorant because she then asked how much I was paying for my broadband and if she could save me money on that!
I then had to reiterate what I had previously told her.
From googling, it does appear that BT think they are exempt from the TPS if you are a customer. It would be interesting to get some clarification on this .0 -
quickly say "no thankyou, goodbye", or maybe something that hints your a little mad "is that you dorris?" , well maybe !0

I'm not rude initially, but I do intensly dislike people phoning repeatedly.0

Once a mobile phone company called to get me to join their network. They asked how much I spend on calls, I told them nothing because I communicate using telepathy and he hung up on me.0

I say "Thank you but i'm not interested. Bye" and hanf up the phone0

I usually start with "What are you going to fail to sell me?"
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
why not get caller display??, after 6pm I put the answer phone on which just says in pre-recorded message by phone provider " please call later "and cuts them off. In the day when at work normal answer phone.0
