How do you deal with telephone sales people?

Specifically cold callers.
I had one the other day and started to ramble on about him having got through to a chinese restaurant and asked if he wanted a curry. I kid you not - he actually became rather abusive - and he was meant to be a salesman!

Just say 'one moment please', put the phone down to one side and forget about it for 10 minutes. Let them listen to you
make a cuppa, have a conversation with someone,
Drives them nuts.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Just say you're on TPS and they shouldn't be calling you.
or
I'm sorry but we are unable to accept sales calls
or
I'm sorry but I'm not interestedIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

I tend to to the same thing most of the time - most friends and family know to text or email me because I hate artificial small talk on the phone.0 -
a good one I read on here was decline whatever they are selling and get their telephone number,
then go online to all the car/home insurance sites and do a moody enquiry putting their number in the telephone number box and request a call back:rotfl::rotfl:I

For males receiving calls, you can do this. As soon as they start talking, say "wait a second", and make some clothes rustling noises, then when you get back say "OK, what are you wearing ....... and what are you wearing underneath.....".
This may not work for females receiving calls.0 -
Well, since i've had a job cold-calling companies in the past, i realise that they are people, who have bills to pay and probably don't want to call you any more than you want to talk to them.
So, i tell them I don't enter into financial contracts over the phone. And they usually say thanks and hang up.
You don't help anyone being nasty to them.
I have TPS, so i rarely get sales calls anyway0 -
I just say sorry I'm not interested, if they persist then I say it again and that I'm going to hang up then hang up.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190
