Should i buy a new laptop or a refurbished one

I've bought 3 refurbished Dells over the past few years. One is about 5 years old and only just starting to fade. Others running fine and dandy.
The last 2 I got from MCS Technology, one off ebay and the other I went direct- both looked like new other than one having a TINY scratch on the corner and I paid way less than half the RRP for them.
The last one I bought 2 months ago developed a fault with the screen after about 3 weeks, emailed them and was told to send back. It returned fixed and good as new in 3 days. It took longer when I returned something to Dell themselves after buying one brand new!
I have bought loads of refurbished electronics, from cameras to DVD players and never had a problem (other than that above which was solved quickly and painlessly the same as had it been new). Great way to get a bargain. Just make sure you get at least a months warranty and test it thoroughly as soon as you get it.

what warranty do you think will be best??0

Donnie, could you give me a guide price for replacement motherboard. Another HP user here with the standard problem at switch on from time to time, loads of postings all over the net on dv6000 series. Most of the prices i've seen makes me think it's almost not worth fixing and just buying a new one, unless you know different of course......0

Well I'd go for a cheap brand new laptop to be honest. You could be buying a virus infected laptop from some guy/gal on eBay quick to get rid of it; unless it's refurbished by one of the high street retailers Carphonewarehouse, Dell, PC World etc etc.0

The one that best fits your pattern of usage.
If you live abroad for long periods; the 3 years International Warranty.
If only to be used in this country; 3 years with Data Protection.
If you are all fingers and thumbs; All-risks Insurance(you can still add the 3 year International warranty at any time through the first year).0 -
