Hi, hope ive added this to the right section.
I brought a HP laptop a few years ago, i got quidco cashback and money off so the laptop worked out about £280.00, unforunatley my laptop has given up.. and its going to work out too expensive to get repaired.
Should i buy a brand new laptop, they are working out about £350 - £400 or a refurbished one.
Any suggestions would be great.
Many thank
Claire

look at argos' clearence shop on ebay - their refurbs are essentially new machines that have been customer returns for whatever reason. They can't re-sell as NEW, hence the refurb tag. Still get a 12-month warranty with them, and some good machines well under your budget

compare specs/prices on there with places like ebuyer/dabs etc and go from there......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
thanks. there is a argos clearance in walsall. it is the shop version of the ebay store.
think i might have a look there tomorrow.. not 100% sure if they sell laptops..
too many things to think of when buying a laptop :-(0 -
What's wrong with the HP?
Nothing much on the Clearance website at the moment. What is your criteria? You can get a laptop for as little as £235.0 -
What precisely does "refurbished" mean?
It's like used, but tarted up to imply somehow improved.0 -
From the site,Refurbished Products
Refurbished products are all 100% OK! In fact, they represent amazing value for money, especially as we offer all our refurbished products with a full ONE YEAR warranty.
These products may be classed as refurbished for a number of reasons:- They may have been previously sold, and subsequently returned to one of our parent stores and not put back on sale for cosmetic packaging reasons. This is often as little as a broken seal.
- Alternatively, they may simply have incurred a minor amount of cosmetic packaging damage during handling in the day to day running of our business.
- Some items may also have been returned to our parentstores with a reported fault or where a customer had difficulty in using.
Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Thanks - I think that's a good definition, but some use it to mean a used machine that has had a bit of a clean to make it look nicer.0

Hi
Just looked on the Argos clearance web site and noticed, so please be careful that the acer aspire 5735Z refurbished, that i bought new about 18mths ago has a lot higher spec than the ones advertised. I would have thought same make and serial number same computer, so maybe the refurb to a lower spec enables them to sell for a lower price.
Having said that mine is a great computer i am very happy with it and have not had any problems, i was a little wary when i bought it Acer being a new name to me, i had always had Toshiba's before, lot more expensive and this time offering a lower spec for a lot more money.
Good luck hope it helps Anna xQue sera sera-whatever will be will be0 -
PS
Not sure so please check, but i think Acer is HPQue sera sera-whatever will be will be0 -
