There are lots of pages but i would appriciate some ideas for recipes where i dont need to buy anything for them, i do have the basic things like oil, S&P Herbs, mustard, mint sauce, honey, tom puree, stock cubes, worc sauce, soy sauce etc. .

Thanks in advance for ur help!

Each day is a new beginning, look at what you have an be grateful for every tiny thing. You don't know when it may be taken away.
  • Thinking of having 'if you don't REALLY need it do not buy, even if it is REALLY cheap!' tattooed on hands. As idiot brain doesn't seem able to understand or remember. Had visit from D1 who told her partner 'if we are stuck here for 6 months we wont starve'. Just worked out I have enough meat in freezer for about 50 dinners. Also have rice, pasta, veg and soup. Possibly have over done shopping. Am Definitly NOT going onto Dan AppFd for another month and leaving credit card at home when I go out. Aim is to put JUST the right amount of money in purse. Luckily I live 20mins drive to any shops so NSDs are easy.

Big hugs to everyone, welcome to new members; this is possibily the best thing you've ever done! Coming onto this board means you have a wonderful, close support group that will encourage, give advise and hints on how to be more economical, who will sympathise everytime things go wrong. These people are probably the best, most understanding friends you will ever have.

I usually use a bit of chilli powder, cumin & smoked paprika & then put a smidge of chilli oil in the dressing. As when we make coleslaw we generally use a vingarette (Sp?) rather than a mayo/yoghurt dressing.
Lovely - thanks for the inspiration :) I love the idea of the vinaigrette dressing too, although after the week I'm having I think I may cheat and buy some for once.

Just reporting October GC total at £120.49 thats 49p over I have shocked myself!:j Don't know if this is the place but me and DH need to have a rethink re our finances. Our Mortgage goes up in November by £150.00 a month! :eek:and am sure a lot of you lovely people here could advise us where to post a SOA to see if we could get costs down in other ways. Am really frightened as DH job may not be as secure as we thought If this Govenment have their way ie Privatisation, just wish we could have more time to pay debts off before this may happen. Sorry for the moan folk. On a brighter note I am off work for a week next week so looking forward to lots of OS cooking/cleaning and preparing for winter, am I sad or what but at least its cheap and will keep me out of the shops.:rotfl: Well done folks, everyone seems to be doing really well this month and those who are struggling just think if you hadn't joined the GC how much you would have spend without even thinking I know I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at some of my till receipts in the past.:o Cheerio all and have a good weekend, x

Morning everyone - just wanted to say we had the Calzones last night for Dinner and they were a real hit with everyone - delicious and I will definitely make those again. Thanks for the recipe kezlou.:D

Dinner tonight is our usual Friday night Fish, HM chips and mushy peas. Getting close to budget, need to get a Free range chicken for Sunday and some milk so I will pop to Lid! tomorrow as their Milk is down to £1 and I'm always pleased with their Free Range Chickens, £3.49 a kilo last time I bought one. Not sure what else we will need but I'll double check everything later - kids break up today for Half Term so glad my new GC starts on Wednesday.

    Have a good day everyone.;)

My fiance moves in this weekend so budget for next month is £160. :eek:This is big and I hope to bring it down. I feed him curently at weekends but will be different when he is here all the time. Have a large box of cereal ready for the mornings and a few things in the freezer. Fortunately he is at work on Tuesday when I am on holiday so will do lots of batch cooking and freezing then. Thinking beef in red wine, pork casserole and if time some soup.

Have this weekend's shopping to do then will declare my Oct total. Ran out of rice last night but found some arborio rice which I was given as a gift so chicken and pea risotto! Good thing about being OS is it makes you inventive!

    Morning all :)

No spends as of yet for November but I'm sure there will be some soon!

I am struggling today as I'm having tons of side effects from my meds and it's making me feel really really sick :( not sure what to eat as don't want to make it worse. Anyone have any ideas on really plain foods? To give you an idea- tomato soup is making me feel sick as that is too strong today.

Anyway have a good day all. I am going to go out later to get some fresh air and maybe some ice poles which seems to help

Have a good day all :)

Have you reported your side effects to the Dr? They should be able to give you something to help take the sickness away. If not they providing they won't interfere with your other tablets then you could try travel sickness over the counter tablets - I have them for when I have a sickly Migraine. Oh and how about plain yogurts? Perhaps porridge? Toast? Omelettes? sorry probably not very imaginative.

    Hugs
