Went to local market yesterday and they had a melon, a pineapple and grapes -all 3 items for £1 :D The grapes are lovely and seedless, the melon looks and smells nice and the pineapple needs a day or two more to ripen.

that fruit is a BARGAIN! :T

Thanks sister cas. Was thinking about eggs but think they might be too much with toast. I think I am going to have to plump for some plain rice this evening! I wonder if I feel brave enough I could add a small bit of egg and a spring onion? Oh well.... at least it's a cheap dinner LOL

Hippeechiq what about spicy rice (Peppers, onion, sweetcorn, cooked rice and some spices perhaps a small bit of curry powder)?

I was going to suggest cous-cous, but as that's one of the stuffing ingredients, maybe just serve it with a big salad, as the carbs are already included? Or home-made coleslaw with some chilli as a nice spicy kick?

Over budget now - £10 spent having an Indian for lunch - the boss paid for the drinks and tip and I am SO full now! Over budget, sleepy (don't want to work any more), and DEFINITELY not having dinner tonight! :rotfl:

... I earned £38.20 in 2009 just from fairly regular cornershop shopping and now the vouchers are bailing me out so it's definitely worth following up!

I got my vouchers a couple of weeks ago, spent them yesterday, mind you, I only had £2 worth :rotfl:but it all helps; plus I had a £3 voucher from unilever after I complained that 2 jars of colmans apple sauce turned brown on my shelf months before bbd, so that paid for a jar of marmite! I'm going to be shopping in our c00p a bit more now though as it was refurbished/enlarged a few months ago and they actually do have the special offers in there now :T

I remember going with my mum to collect her divi :)

    Hello folks

Just popped in to update my sig - looking good at the moment. My month ends next Thursday and I have £28-75 left - I am away at the weekend visiting rellies so should only need the odd bit of milk and F&V before then. Decided that as we weren't going to be here for a 'Sunday roast' I wouldn't go looking for a joint for the weekend, but would survive next week out of the freezer (I usually do a roast and then get two or three days' worth of other meals out of it!) I have cannelloni, hm pizza and bolognese sauce plus a couple of individual chicken pies in there so should be able to survive!

Got some lamb chops reduced in Sainsbugs from £5 to £3.99 and made a lamb casserole in the pressure cooker. Sadly my favourite 'family' pack of 15 FR eggs reduced to £2 was sold out but did get a packet of carrots (which I usually buy loose) for 30p, so feeling quite pleased with that.

Off to catch up with the last three days posts before leaving for work.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Oooo- I'm liking the sound of that - thanks

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough. This probably wont appeal, but whenever I was unwell, my Mum used to make me either Mash & Baked Beans - inoffensive and no strong flavours (though not sure how you'd feel about chewing a baked bean to swallow if you cant stomach tomato soup) - or scrambled egg on toast, which is pretty bland if you don't add seasoning. Em...plain boiled pasta or noodles tossed in some butter maybe?

I didn't really want salad, nothing against it, but just don't fancy salad at the mo. I do like the sound of the coleslaw though, especailly pepping it up a bit. Do you mean chilli powder or an actual chilli?

Thanks for the suggestions both of you :) and hope the effects of your meds eases soon wssla00 :grouphug:

I usually use a bit of chilli powder, cumin & smoked paprika & then put a smidge of chilli oil in the dressing. As when we make coleslaw we generally use a vingarette (Sp?) rather than a mayo/yoghurt dressing.
