  • Wasted another £3 on lunch today. I was getting so good at bringing it from home, but things have been so manic lately I've given up the ghost.

I've put stuff on my list for tonight's shopping for lunches next week as I really must stop wasting money like this :(

On the brighter side, tonight should be the last time I buy groceries this month (though won't declare til Thurs) and I'm looking like I'll scrape in under budget so fingers crossed.

  • hiya everyone,

had quite a few nsd`s lately, been really concentrating on using whats already in the kitchen & meal planning,

spent £27 in sainsburys yesterday on a top-up type shop, got quite a bit actually,
2 bags of potatoes, one bag i`ll make into mash and freeze,
4 bags of dog food (dry mixer) £10 from morrisons, (will last 2 months)

got a shoe rack out of argos for a fiver which ive put at the bottom of the pantry for extra storage, it looks so organised! lol
going to be getting stocked right up over the next couple of weeks, i like to know ive plenty in incase i cant get out of winter, we live quite rural so its usually just best to stay in rather than chance anything.

hope everyones doing well, im not liking the cold lately, hubby was complaning about the draught coming from the front door, noticed a huge difference with my thick curtains up

    off to my update signature.

I have some spends to add to my total:

    £11 on a chinese last night:o
    £9.39 on beer:o:o
£48.45 in Tesc0 including baby formula, wine and flowers for SIL for Sunday lunch this week and bud and burgers for an american themed night with friends on saturday
£15.23 in Mr M on fruit, veg, cheese, bacon, rolls and more blummin beans
£18.19 on veg box, cherry toms and organic eggs

Bit peed off with Tesc0. I did not get my organic milk at Mr M (the only place that does big organic skimmed milk) because Mr T had an offer on according to Mysuper and the shelf sticker saying 2 x 2l for £1.50 so it worked out a bit cheaper. I didn't check the receipt as the baby was asleep in the trolley sitting up. When I rang they said if the offer isn't on the computer then I can't have the refund double the difference. I am very annoyed with myself for not double checking it or just getting it in Mr M. It is only 79p but I feel like the shelf label was put there to con shoppers in to buying it. Sorry, rant over.:o

Well done all those doing so well. Glad I'm not the only one going over.
Major success today though - went it W for a tin of tomatoes (not having anywhere near where they're any cheaper) and came out with...Just a tin of tomatoes:T

Don't think we need much else now apart from more milk probably Sunday (we have the boys from tonight for the weekend). Found 12 rolls reduced in C*op yesterday for 25p so that takes care of their lunches and proably no more than making some.
Now attempting next week's meal plan.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Found the following veg at 30p per pack-baking spuds x4, carrots 500gm and a savoy cabbage. Shouldn't need any more veg until nov now.
With the freezer full I don't see any need to do another big shop before payday-the 29th.
Sorry to hear that many of you are over this month. Remember we are a supportive network of like minded people so don't give up.
I'm quite motivated at the moment, even prepped for work lunches next week.
    Keep at it peeps.

Can I please be included in Nov for £160? This will include extra food for 2 adult children's birthdays this month and also want to get some food in the cupboards for next month.
    Thanks

Hello and Happy Friday all :j. I have been missing this month as I was on a self catering holiday at the beginning of the month and this has played havoc with my foods bills :( (so to be honest) I gave up before I started.

Ive just deferred my home delivery shop from tomorrow until next week/until after pay day. It was over a hundred pounds  .

I'm not sure how I find so much to buy? I seem to relish lining the supermarket's pockets leaving my bank account feeling sad and stockpiling my already overfilled cupboards/fridge/freezer etc.

I keep telling myself that I must plan my menus before I shop ... but I never do ?? and just pick stuff at random ?promising myself that this will be the last shop when I haven't planned but of course this is never the case.

Things must change though. I am allowing a budget of £299.99 for November. I seem to spend so much on a home delivery shop ? 299.99 would be gone in just two home delivery shops ? Does anyone else find they overspend ? I seem to stockpile like crazy and I don't understand why ? Its not as if the shops only open on weekdays, they are open 7 days a week and even it was a sunday, I have a co$tcutter (which opens till 10pm) so any "must have" items wouldn't be an issue ? what is my problem ? The world isn't going to end if I run out of washing up liquid / cat food / handsoap ?!

Its 9 odd weeks till xmas now so I think my aim should be to avoid home delivery shops and use the local metro shop that I have but only after planning my menus and with the aim that I eat as much as possible from my freezers and cupboards.... I'm sure if I tried really hard, I could get through until the end of the year simply by eating the contents of my freezer and cupboards. I might end up with some weird meals but it would certainly save the pennies !
