I get my frozen leeks from Farmfoods. ;)

Thanks for that cheerfulness but the nearest one to me is 26 miles away. I could have gone and stocked up on some other bits to make the journey worthwhile maybe if I had a car, but mine failed it's MOT in April and I can't afford to get it fixed or buy another, and 26 miles is a bit of a walk ;)

While we're on the topic of frozen veg, does anyone know where I can get frozen pearl onions?

    I can't find them anywhere!

I have a few bags of leeks in my freezer - they're all ones I bought, chopped and froze. No other prep work, and they cook just fine (I only use them in soups though, so not sure if they'd be unsuitable for anything else)

Can I join for the first time please? I have been spending waaaaay too much on groceries over the past while, even though I always look for bargains, cook from scratch etc.
I want to set myself a budget of £240 for this month. I have definitely been spending more than that. I don't get money for 'me', as such. I am a stay at home mum, and grateful for it. My dh works and is a marvellous saver compared to me. I need to rein in my spending before he notices how much I have been going through. My plan is to squirrel away any money I have left over so I can use it for little treats for us.

So far this month I have spent £32.44 in Asda today. But that did include enough yoghurts for all of us for packed lunches and after dinner pud, and I did bring a list and stuck to it! I always bring a list, but always get loads of stuff that's not on there.
I went to the ATM, and lifted the whole £240 out and will stop using my debit card. I find it is too easy to spend £20 here, and another £20 there without thinking about it, but for me, handing over cold, hard cash makes me much more aware of how much is going.
BTW, there are 4 of us. Myself, DH, and 2 girls 11 and 3.
I hope this is the right way to do my post, if not, tell me.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

A NSD for me! Took my purse just 'in case' but didn't use it. Have managed to be gifted another 2 bags of apples! Last year I gave out a jar of homemade chutney here and there and I am amazed at what I have been given back. I guess people know its not going to go to waste when they see you are using it. Think I am spending tonight stewing apples for the freezer!:rotfl:

Another £2.78 spent last night on some Roquefort and Mushrooms from the little Mr T express, and a pack of chewing gum (need to wean myself off that!!). Defrosted some bacon from the freezer, fried with an onion and mushrooms, and stirred in the cheese. Was very nice!

The next 3 days my flatmate will cook, and I've got everything I need for lunches, so I don't need any more spends until the weekend :D

Do they? I did a search on My$upermarket but it didn't come up with anything, so I never actually thought to look for myself when I go in :rotfl: so thanks for that :) I'll have a look for some when I go in later in the week

I never buy enough to freeze cos they're always so damned expensive, but I've frozen chopped red and brown onion and spring onion, so I don't see why frozen leek shouldn't be ok.....or at least for what I want it for. I only want it to go in a Sausage Leek & Mustard Stir Fry and Shepherdess Pie, so I'm sure frozen will be fine if I can find some in Te$cos. Thanks :)

A spend day for me today of £2 for 4L of milk, so £74.04 spent so far £200.96 left, and it'll look a lotworse than that once I've done my first big shop of the month at the weekend. Am thinking of going for an 8 hours slot so that my delivery charge is only £2.....anyone done/tried this?

Just did my first ever online shop! At Mr S. Begrudgingly paid the £5.50 delivery charge, but only because I had a £10 off 1st shop code.

Have asked for no substitutes, so will have to hope that not too much is unavailable!

How have everyone else's experiences with shopping online at Mr S been??
