Hi everyone - after several months absence (and a lot of grocery overspending), TheBees are back on track.

I wrote a 3 week menu plan on Thursday evening then did a big food shop on Friday. Went to our friendly butcher and spent £20, then to Tesco for the remainder which came to over £100 even with a £6 voucher!!! But the cupboards, fridge and freezers are bulging!!

Here's the menu plan for this week - maybe it will help others with a bit of inspiration?

Today - Just had shoulder of lamb roasted for about 6 hours. (Yum)
    Monday - Fish Pie
Tuesday - Rissotto (using leftovers from lamb, some bacon and veg)
Wed - Chilli (making a double amount so I can freeze half)
Thurs - Meat pie, veg and gravy
Fri - Baked potatoes (cheese, beans, tuna)
Sat - (not decided yet as it's our wedding anniversary!)
Sun - Belly pork in stuffing, pots and veg.

Our main problem is I work two evenings a week and have to eat before everyone else and on other evenings there is flute, running club and a paper round to contend with!

    Anyway good luck everyone

I spent €92 in SQ this weekend, and another €8 in SV this morning (bread, mushrooms and Sunday papers). Overall I am happy with that as I got enough meat for 2 weeks and had to restock a lot of cupboard essentials. Chicken korma last night, gammon steaks tonight, pasta with leftover gammon and mushrooms tomorrow.

And we are finally making some progress in the freezer too....

First grocery spend of the month today with a total of £35.62, including a wholemeal loaf for 29p from A*da.
i did this once and son had apple crumble when i thought it was fish pie not good with peas ha ha :D

Had to laugh at this, it reminded me of my brother, who once got pie and chips from the chip shop, and when he got it home he found it was an apple pie, lol, he was not amused but as he was a human dustbin at the time, he still ate it!

  • I wish I didn't have to go into shops, they are very bad for me!! Feel quite happy not spending until I have to go in!

Bought some alcohol free larger (which I love!) and some bits for L's lunchbox. Oh, and tofu is reduced back down to £1.49 in Morrisons at the moment, so I got 6 of those, which is about what I'd normally aim for (when the price is right) to last for the month.

So, I spent 19.20, bringing total up to £25.32. That doesn't sound too bad, but there's still a lot of month to go

well all the bills paid this month now and online shop done and menu planner done this week -quite difficult as trying to shift the pounds so spend has gone up to £63 and will get the hovis out of farmfoods this week - 2 for £1 but dont think i will need much else - maybe £20 in petrol and if i can keep to that will be well on target. have got the bank bags in the cupboard all marked up £5 for odds and ends and £20 for the petrol so if i spend extra on the odds and ends it comes out the petrol! and i have to walk.
