OK first entry in Oct list
    Sainsbury - £20.89

Didn't need cheese but checked the per kg price in the passing

Trouble is I like strong cheddar - taste buds getting older - and it is pricey.

Can I ask if there is any reason why some of you don't put the full name of the supermarket you shop in?

I would also be interested to hear how so many people get £2 off this shop or a £10 of that one, or £5 off another, as I've never received any vouchers of any kind either online or via the post.

I got sent 4 x £10 off a £30 shop from T*esco through the post I can only assume it was because the store I go to has just had a major refit and for 3-4 weeks everything was in total disray. Whatever the reason it was very welcome.

Just spent another £2.99 in W4itrose, 6 organice beef & red pepper sausages 79p :D & 6 free range pork & sweet chilli sausages £1.79 & 45p fpr a roll for my lunch, as I forgot to bring any bread with me for my cheese sandwich.

We're lucky at my office we have a kitchen with a microwave etc, so usually make my sandwiches fresh on the day, as I really hate when the salad makes the bread soggy

Am very impressed with my sausages as DH goes through them 3 at a time, despite me trying to cut him down to 2, but he is 6'4" so takes a lot of filling :p

    I can imagine :)

Craftyscholar I only eat mature cheddar too, but I never pay full price for it. A year ago it was below a fiver per kg, now it can be as much as £6, 7 or £8 and I refuse to pay that much.

I wait until it's on offer and then I buy several packs, which then means I have enough to last me until it's on offer again.

£idls especially have extremely good cheese offers on almost weekly if you have one near you :)

To be honest, I'm not sure why supermarket names are not written in full, I think it's something to do with advertising, but I could be totally wrong, and probably am :rotfl:

Edited to add Ventured out after all for my bread and milk today, so have to add another £4.46 bringing total so far to £25.40, and I've pretty much only got coffee, noodles, milk and bread to show for it! Had to buy a 1L of Skimmed Milk as Icel@nd didn't have any 2L bottles - they didn't have any yesterday either - 2L would have cost me £1.10 1L cost 86p

I think it's to do with internet searches, if we put the full name it makes them appear more often.....I think??

Unfortunately I can't make use of this, as I can't get £30 worth of goods in my backpack, but in case someone else can make use of it...

Taken from a post in another part of the forum, in todays Daily Express...

    Afternoon all.

Many thanks as ever to Pink, Mrs M and Rosieben for the thread and to everybody who contributes. I write everything I buy down in a notebook but I really value also being able to come on here and read/post/update my sig - I need all the help I can get!

I'm already up to £118.49 for Oct (including a big T*sco shop)and really need to be careful this month. I've made shepherd's pie filling and bolognaise which I've frozen, along with some sausage casserole so I'm building up the stocks again.

I have though run out of A*da pepperoni pizza (DS's staple) which means I will have to do an A*da shop soonish, probably Monday, but I'll keep it to a minimum:rotfl:.

Anyway good luck for October...I need to go and take stock already I think!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
