  • Didn't quite achieve what I'd hoped for October - but then I knew it would be a struggle.

Declaring £157.11 spent, so £17.11 over my £140 budget. Still proud of myself despite failing to stay within set amount for 2nd month. :D

    AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE   £115.93/ £250

  • Declaring £152.59 for Oct very pleased with that as it's a whopping £67.41 under budget. However, we did share the grocery bill for one week when we were away so that saved some. Looking forward to hopefully keeping it as low in November.

Oh dear :( have spent £63.57 in the last few days.

Wont be spending anything tomorrow so- can I declare £275.52 for october please. Over budget by £27.52 which is annoying as its first time not come in on target but at least it proves that if you take your eye of the ball for even a short time then things do go wrong. I know I hadnt been as careful as last few months and I only have myself to blame.

Can I try for £250 for November please.

Have spent the last two days trying to do a spread sheet - never done one before - and I think I have one that will work now. I kept loosing all the info was putting into it so must have been doing something wrong, then I got 2 pages instead of one :o anyway have now managed to do a mock one and saved it so fingers crossed. I have split food up in to categorys - meat/fish, dairy, f/veg, tins etc, bakery, cleaning, drinks, misc, junk:eek: Hopefully I can add all the columns up and see where most of the money is being spent. I shall play with it Nov and Dec and hopefully have it right for the new year as I really want to get on top of things next year. Am toying with the idea of setting a target for savings as well - is there a thread on here for this or not?

All our bills and D.D. etc, like everyones, have been increased and food is one area where we can save some money. Also working on reducing the phone bill as just had last bill OMG :eek::eek::eek: is all I will say!

Good luck to everyone in Nov.
    MARCH £62.38/250

Going in to town tomorrow after all, but only NEED a few grocery items, so must stick to my list! Had to spend £1.60 on 4 pints of milk today, as I had to get it from the petrol garage, was hoping to get it tomorrow (2 for £2) but ran right out today. The cat is down to her last bit of food, about half a can left which will do her for tomorrow morning, so that is one thing I will have to get. One more day to go!

Just updated my spreadsheet (and signature) with all my grocery spends from last Saturday to today

Also updated my GC budget - since starting to calorie count (which has been overly successful - and I'm now trying to stop the loss, having dropped to almost 5lbs below where I wanted to get!) I've actually had to eat a lot more than I was doing :o Working through what I've eaten for a few days it looks as if I may have to increase my budget by almost 100% (from £1.70/day to £3.50 as a minimum) which is scarey. So I've increased it to £2.50/day for now, but back-dated it to 23rd Aug (when I started calorie counting)

As such my budget for October has increased from £55 to £84, but I've still managed to spend £112.20 (meaning I'm overspent by £40.30 for the year to date) Not toooo worried though, as I have actually done a fair bit of stocking up/replacing 'once in a blue moon' purchases over the last week - including a £24.77 order from App F00ds (including delivery charge).

But with the App F00ds order (and some mega-cheap 'staff only' cheese I picked up at work, meaning I possibly have enough in my freezers to last to the end of 2011 ;)) my Whoopsies totals are looking very good this month :)

BTW: Does anyone know when App F00ds stopped sending a text with the delivery date, and which you could then respond to in order to get the delivery delayed by a day or two? Got an email this morning saying it'll be delivered on Monday, and can I please ensure someone is in - but I live on my own and work all day on Monday :(

I really, really, really shouldn't need anything else tomorrow, but will wait until after the stores close to declare my final total just in case something crops up (don't like to tempt fate by declaring today)

When i placed an order this week i got a text saying that the delivery would be Friday but i was asked to text the number 1, 2 or 3 for Monday, Tues or Weds of next week if this past Friday was not convenient, which it wasn't.

Having said that, the text with the option to delay came on the morning of the day it should be delivered (the Friday), so maybe on Monday you will get a text and then you can delay delivery.
