I wouldn't bother freezing it, a few years ago we ate one that was two years out of date and it was lovely. Though you can freeze it, it will be fine.

  • Do you really want a £5(ish) Christmas Pudding taking up space in your freezer for a year?

Freeze it in portions (if you must) and eat it at any time you fancy!

It's so full of sugar and alcohol that an additional six months really isn't going to make any difference, beyond maturing the flavour. My mum always makes our puddings two years in advance anyway :) Or, if you want to use it up then it's nice crumbled into some softened, decent quality vanilla ice cream. That can be frozen with no problems.
  • think i will leave it to gather dust and maybe have it at Easter (if I remember) lol x

    I've been Money Tipped!
IMO its not just that they do not get worse being kept after their best before date, but I think they actually improve. Our christmas pud this year was like many others, two years 'out of date' and was better than the same one we bought with it and ate christmas two years ago.

This year we ate one that was left over, unopened, from last year or the year before. It's just been in a cupboard. It was fine.

Mynhomemade one had no instructions, just nana's nums hand written note from 1930. Steam for two hours before serving.

I would steam divide and then freeze. Once defrosted zap for 30 second burst until hot in a microwave (or over a steamer until warmer through).
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
