    Thanks for your response Graeme.
I think I'm in a similar situation to when you were in hospital. I know I cant drink so the whole issue is shelved as far as my brain is concerned.

I will try to carry on after 6 weeks and see how it goes but the way I work/think I am now considering antabuse if I find myself abusing again.

I might be able to drink a small amount but only if it came from the bottom of the bottle!

    Hi RN,

I was looking at some old diaries the other night. I mentioned I was drinking too much regularly, I decieded to cut down, I didn't do too great.

As soon as I decieded to stop, like you say, the option to drink was gone. I don't know whether I'm an alcoholic either. What matters is I was drinking too much, it was affecting my wallet, my health and my relationships. I am far better off not drinking in so many ways. I know at nearly 40 my drinking would of only got worse not better.

  • DB After I completed the first week I felt fine but went straight back to drink. It was as though the brakes came off. I fear this will happen again but hey, thats 5 weeks away.

  • 365 days You've done really well and your approach is the one I am intending to adopt. 6 weeks off will be a great start, I just have to condition my brain that alcohol is a no. The thought of not spending £85 a week helps.

    SSG.

I think that is what we all want. However those guys may not want a drunk. Like attracts like unfortunately.

    Harsh but true.

Obviously something is going on but as you know from experience here isn't the place, especially when you are posting drunk.

Step back and go easy. You won't regret the things you say then.

SSG, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. I certainly don't know what you mean by 'last time' either.

I hope you're ok & that you don't feel too rough in the morning.

Do we have to go through this again

If you have a problem with Sim do it in private. There is no need to air it in public.

    Thanks for removing your number.

I've got no intention of comparing you or laughing at anyone.

It doesn't sound like you're in a good place right now & i hope you feel better soon
