Yes please Pen. I'll try and make my Jan AF figures slightly more respectable:o And well done on the smoking front - I'm so jealous.

    Have a good day all.

Maman - yes the exercise did the trick - by the time OH got back from badminton I'd hammered all my frustrations out on the exercise bike!:D (getting shot of OH for two hours helped too!!:rotfl:)
Well done on stopping after the one glass....I know from experience how much willpower that takes!

Piglet was up early today (6.30...bleugh!) so got all my tidying etc done before he went to school. So after school we should have some time to have a bit of a make-it session. He's obsessed with making things at the moment and invariably comes out of school with a ton of "models" (much to the hilarity of the other Mums!:rotfl:)

Still AF here.....quite proud of the fact that the urge didn't arise last night. When I'm grumpy is when I usually reach for the bottle, telling myself it'll help to relax me.

Also on the AF front.....couldn't work out why I'm so much better off this month (ie money still in bank even though payday is two days away and its been a 6 week month for me!!). Then realise, not buying 4 or 5 bottles of wine a week really does improve the finances! Like Shaggy, perhaps I should be thinking of putting that money away somewhere. Although have to admit its nice not to be scrabbling around for money for food or petrol.:o

    Anyway, must stop whittering on!!!

    Have good days all

    Miss P
    xx

    'morning everyone!

Well done on the finances MissP. You really should start putting that money one side, it would be fantastic motivation especially if you saved up for a treat! I think you're a fantastic mum having a make-it session with Piglet, so much better to chat with him while you do things together.

I'm definitely going to be AF today, I need my little clapping man (unless that's a sexist thing to say:o).

I had a senior team meeting at work yesterday where one colleague again really p***ed me off. On the way home I was still fuming so I texted the OH: "On way home, no gym, remaining alcohol night for this month is tonight. I want to kill *****. Time to get a new job."

Half an hour later I was nearly home and I decided (after all) to stop at the gym (to delay opening the wine). I did, while texting the OH to say I'd be another 90 minutes. I was rubbish in the gym. I ran about 2.5 miles on the treadmill, had a shower and went home. Probably 45 minutes total.

I went to bed early as well.

    But I didn't drink.

So this is me declaring 16, but this was the hardest and most satisfying AF day this month so far!!
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?

Well Done Flimsier! Very inspiring:T. I know I wouldn't have done so well in those circumstances - especially as I hate going to the gym and have to force myself through every trip and mile (2,300 of them so far!)

I'll remember your post next time I'm considering saying s*d it after a bad day.

    Well done Flimsier :T

Sometimes a distraction or a delay works wonders.

  • Hello everyone, thanks for the lovely welcome last night. I think I'll be quite at home here :j
AF last night - was out doing a candle party until 11pm and came in feeling tired and needing to unwind with a bottle of wine. DH had opened a bottle and offered me some. I said NO and got a bit cross because he knows I'm trying to cut down - and he should too. Half the problem is that if he opens a bottle he will drink it all, if I don't join in. So if I don't have my share there and then, there is none left for me to have another time. Anyway when I explained that to him, he left my half in the fridge and didn't touch it :D

It really does Miss P! Me and DH had a pact last year that every night we didn't drink, thus saving around €4 (our usual spend on a bottle of wine), we would pay it off a credit card instead... We should start that up again.

Well done Flimsier. I can really identify with that. I've hurt my foot and haven't been to the gym for 10 days now - but I think it's a good option to go and work out that frustration/anger instead of coming home and opening a bottle. I actually can't wait to get back there - I never thought I would say that!!
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D

  • oops- didn't manage it last night.... had a couple at the comedy night.

Feel a bit :( and uninspired- going to read some of my old posts to get me 'on it' again...

Well done flimsier, that's really good to hear about, very positive! :T

Hi Purple Heather, I really understand what you mean and how that feels. OH and I were buying two bottles (up to 3 on a bad day :o and if I don't help there's rarely wine left the next day.

I have tried two things here, apart from your pointing out that there's none left for tomorrow which would work when he's sober but less effective as the wine gets drunk!

One is investing in a Vacuvin wine saver for under £10 and resealing the wine. Somehow this slows him down a microsecond at the point of pouring the next glass and sometimes that means he goes to bed instead. Plus if there is any left it's nicer to drink the next day.

The other is buying him cans instead of getting wine. He's supportive when I'm trying to cut down and often asks if I'm strong enough if he opens wine not to join him. If he has cider then I'm less tempted.

I should also point out that while I'm out of a job and skint it's not my wine scrimped and saved for but me drinking wine he's bought - I used to earn the same but less for a while now and he picks up a lot of extra stuff for me to share. I'd not be happy at all if it was 'mine' when I can't afford it and he polished it off while i was out or something.
