I'm declaring AF too, as we've loads going on at home tonight (nice stuff) and I'd be an idiot not to have a clear head for it
Over the last couple of weeks my face has become a lot less bloated and the red skin is dying down again. If it was doing that damage to my face, I hate to think what it was doing to my insides.
Well done with the gin 365, I would have struggled with that.
Enjoy your bath Puzzcat. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Hopefully what I say next won't upset anyone as I believe it to be fact.
There are people on here who want to cut down and can easily.
There are people on here who want to cut down but can't.
There are people on here who want to stop completely and have.
There are people on here who want to stop completely and can't.
There are other people on here who don't fall into any of the above but for their own reasons find the thread helpful and interesting.
This is a thread about ALCOHOL.
I found it took ages for me to be able to abstain as I would stop for two days then say to myself "hah I can stop anytime want to" then start drinking again. Mainly wine in the evening to chill and to relax and maybe some beers during the day.
I have stopped for now but the voices in my head still kep saying "go on you can have a drink" but I want to control this and to choose when I drink, I am surprised that I have managed 37 days on the trot as this is a first for me in at least 10 years.
Reading this thread does help me along as seeing a program on TV last month about someone dieing before their time because of their bad diet and alcohol intake, opened my eyes to a few facts.
Now Florence, landing on Sunday in Pisa then train to Florence have a walking trip booked for Tuesday to see some of the sites including the Duomo, Accademia and Uffizi Gallery. Coming back on Thursday so will see some of Pisa then as we have an afternoon flight, it looks like I may have to return as I don't think we will see it all ;o)))
Staying here hope its nice ;o))))0 -
I am definitely one of those who is too scared to stop drinking forever - no matter how much I try to deny it
'School nights' are my current target, the rest of my life, who knows? Sundays I am close to beating, Fridays and Saturdays are a sticking point (although I did the Saturday before last without thinking about it - there is no sense to it). This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -

It will also save me a fortune ;o))0 -
Good evening ladies and gents.
365days -
Good on ya for resisting temptation! Why not get rid of the temptation altogether, and chuck the gin away?

You say "I am definitely one of those who is too scared to stop drinking forever"
This the one philosophy of AA which I do agree with, where they say we should aim to not drink, just for today
A day at a time and all that
Thinking of doing anything for a lifetime is too much for anyone!
Good Luck in achieving your targets Pen.
Diable -
Have a great time in Florence!
I'm not jealous at all...
.........................................
Today was an ok day.
I got a bit twitchy about going into town sober, but then popped my beta - blocker (one a day - they help loads) and pushed myself out of the door.
Went in to that awful Money Shop place, and paid them another £15.99 to defer the fourth cheque. Discussed the cheapest and quickest way of paying the £500 off.
Feel a lot better for having faced it, and paid it. Can't wait to pay it all off!
Nipped in to a cafe and picked up a tasty chicken and sweetcorn pitta wrap, and then went off to my CBT session.
Went well. The CBT chap is great. Very approachable, and he talks a lot of sense.
Picked up some food shopping on the way back, and am now jobhunting again online
Life still feels quite strange sober, and it's only been 12 days since my last drink!
Slowly starting to feel calmer again though, and more in control.
Off to make my dinner, and then might watch a film.
Enjoy your evening all,
Sim x0 -
