  • I am AF tonight (do I call you Pen?) Thank you X

I'm feeling so so. I've heard the wine bells on and off all evening, but I'm okay.

Tell you what though. What a difference with the kids tonight. Instead of hovering in the kitchen filling my wine glass, pretending to tidy up, I let the youngest one play hairdressers with my hair. What a laugh :D Then I helped my eldest with some lego. Bedtime was calm and we read stories.

I feel like such a fool, thinking wine was better than all of that :o So another day has passed. I hope I have a better sleep tonight. I laughed when I looked in the mirror this morning and saw bloodshot eyes. After a bottle of wine the night before I usually look better!

    Onwards and upwards X
    Need to start again :o
  • Hi FH, everyone calls me Pen :)

Well done with the bells tonight. I'm still amazed what I achieve at home on the days I'm AF.

    Thanks Pen :)

I must say coming in here to join the 3 day special has REALLY helped with the motivation.

I'm also desperate to lose some weight. About a stone off would suit me I think. I'm the heaviest I have ever been and even my mum has passed a comment about it :o DH does too but in a round about way. Whereas my mum just says it as it is :rotfl:I'm pretty sure cutting the wine intake will help with this cause too.

    Need to start again :o

I distinctly remember you saying you'd score RN, 'cos you said it would help you not to waver when you come off the anti-biotics.

Welcome Mark and Poohbear (we seem to have lot of bears round here!). Good news from your GP Mark, so it's onwards and upwards with your AF journey. The scorers like us to post AF (alcohol free days) in bold and colour if you can, just to make you feel at home.

Poohbear, I've just started SW too. As I'm a cutter-down I save my syns for wine and a bit of gravy with my sunday roast:o. I'm lucky that I don't have a sweet tooth so don't worry about choccy. Maybe I'll see you over on on that thread.

Not AF tonight. I've been out to eat and had just one planned glass. Back in the day I would have driven home intent on finishing the bottle but it's Evian in my glass now:D. Back on the wagon tomorrow.
  • Oh one more thing. I never ever get headaches. But since this morning and my first AF day, thumping head all day. Is that common?

Hi, I've not posted on here in ages and popped in for a quick nose as I noticed we are now on thread numero 9!

I wanted to add that I often find that I get a headache on AF days, especially if they are following a few drinking days :o no idea why it should happen!

My alcohol consumption has increased over the last couple of weeks (6 drinking days last week, not good for me) but in previous months it had dropped right down.

I have had 2 AF days this week and am already feeling the benefits again so just need to remember how nice it feels

oh...and as well as trying to ditch the alcohol, I have cut right back on caffeine too which is making my sleep much much better and helping my headaches too :)

good luck to the new posters, this is a great place to share and very positive.

jo1972 i don't know your circumstances but I have followed a few of your posts on the Alcohol support threads and the above quote saying you had had 30 days off is simply wonderful, congratulations. I'm sure it has taken some extreme willpower but I am glad you are seeing such great results. Long may it continue! :T

Thank you, I wasn't sure who was posting in colour or why :o

I am not a sweet eater either so hopefully cutting down on my alcohol syns will make a difference to my weight. I have probably been cheating myself on actual quantities. Now is the time to be honest with myself. I do pop into SW occasionally.
