Thanks Jo. I will join the challenges. Let's start tomorrow... honestly! Do I just post my pledge? In which case tomorrow will be my first AF challenge.

Just post how many days you wish to be AF this month, or whether you wish to be target free and post when you have an AF day and she will update the totals daily.

Thanks Jo. So thats what the 4/16 type numbers are - 4 AF days done, 16 pledged for the month? In that case, Pen could you put me down for 4 AF days for November (start slowly, ease into it). That'll beat my last years total :o!

    That's right Mark.

Pen is just doing the Mon - Thurs challenge for this week.

Shaggy is doing the whole month challenge this month, I think RN has stepped up for next month's challenge (that's if he doesn't change his mind :rotfl:)

Great to hear your news Sim, fantastic :)

Hope everyone else is okay this flippin' freezin morning BRRRR

30 days sober for me, it'll be my one monthiversary after being AF tonight. NEVER felt better, physically and emotionally, I'd recommend it :)

It's so funny that just a short 4 weeks and 2 days ago, I was a pale shaking wreck with a knotted stomach, fuzzy head, puffy face, swollen gums, bad taste in mouth, lank hair, tingling/numb toes, exhausted, low self esteem, sad, angry and depressed that I constantly lose my battle with alcohol.

Today I am just like springwatchgirls post on the first post of this thread, I am not afraid to look at myself in the mirror, my stomach feels normal, I no longer shake, hair is healthier, face not puffy (though am suffering detox spots ), I have rosy cheeks for the first time in over 20 years, everyone's commenting on it, eyes are white, no numbness or tingling, feel I can conquer ANYTHING and most of all, which is the most pleasing, I haven't laughed so much in all my life as I have the past few weeks, I'm beginning to feel as though I might be a nice person to have around rather than that serious, ill looking zombie.

Imagine having a hangover and looking at yourself in the mirror after just 6 hours sleep. That was me everyday. Ridiculous.

    So very happy 2c85c170896a3d6c1fe4.gif

Only popped on to say good morning, dunno where all that came from :rotfl:

Right, off to jump in to shower tenerife-forum-shower-smiley.gif

    Chow for now :)

    xx

  • Will go back and read all the posts once things are less hectic here ;) But yes blo**dy well done Jo. I must go back and see how this all begun. It must have been seriously hard, yes?

I'm actually finding it harder than I thought!! And I did think it was going to be quite difficult. Went into the shop on my way home from work to get milk and flippin' heck the willpower it took not to go to the wine aisle!!!!!

But I'm home now and all is well
    Need to start again :o

Thanks for the welcome. I am following SW and being AF will help me a lot. I intend to start today.

Dh has just come home with two bottles of wine, once it is in the house it is difficult to say 'no' to just one. I will let you know how I get on.

  • Just two weeks being employed left and feeling scared of being unemployed again. Need to kick myself up the bum and apply for more jobs today - there must be one out there with my name on it.

My job is making me very unhappy at the moment. I'm lucky it's just part-time, but even so, thay Sunday evening feeling comes around too fast. I have tried to find another job, but they just don't seem to be there in my area :( Good luck with your search though. Have you tried agencies?

Please give it a go, ride the wave for the first few days, get yourself in bed early and be miserable if you want to, a week of that and you'll come through to the other side. Good luck xxx

I like that alot, thanks. It was a bit like me last night. Head under the duvet praying for sleep :rotfl:

A warm welcome to Poohbear and Mark. Hope your drs appointment went okay Mark X Hello to all other new people since I was here last.

I've had my tea, so the wine bells have subsided for now. Off to run the kids bath and keep myself occupied. That's the trickiest thing, keeping busy enough that I don't think of having a glass of wine.

    Later X

Oh one more thing. I never ever get headaches. But since this morning and my first AF day, thumping head all day. Is that common?
    Need to start again :o

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Docs went better than I could have hoped - I was expecting a referral and weeks of worry, but she reckons its nothing "too" serious - just re-emphasised I've got to drink less. I told her about this forum and said I think it will really help.

A mini celebration - a shandy! I got a funny look from the bargirl - me, a shandy! From now on, that's all it will be - until its coke (cola! lol)

Told the GLW (does that mean good lady wife here?) and she is most supportive. So its smoke free soon and much less beer hopefully.

I'm sooooo glad I found this forum; I have much more hope now.

Be strong everyone but be realistic.
