    Thanks honeybear :-)

I think today has been the deicder, iv had the day off and had alcohol through the day which iv never done before. I feel rubbish and really embarrassed and dont even know why im drink cuz i dont want to.

    Alcohol is a drug.
Some people get addicted to drugs, and cannot stop taking them even if they want to.
That was me - I promised myself I would not drink, but then ended up drinking. It was only when I admitted to myself I was addicted that I could start getting better. I am not alone - there are many people addict ted to drink.
I cannot be cured of my alcoholism, but for today, I don't have the main symptom of alcoholism which is relapse.

    Hello everyone,

I seem to have developed a habit and am easily drinking a bottle of wine a night with no hangover or feeling drunk at all..in fact i have on occassion gone and bought another bottle as i feel fine...this worries me alot.

I really wouldnt like to cut out alcohol all together but would like to be able to only drink it on a friday night or now and again on social occassions. Has anyone else successfully managed this?

    xxx

Hi FF, your situation almost mirrors mine exactly when I started on here in January 2009. I dread to think about days I drove into work when I must have been over the limit having had a bottle+ only hours before. However, I have been adamant (despite much disagreement from some on the thread:p) that I was drinking from habit rather than alcoholism and I only wanted to cut down.

Using targets/challenges on here (and some will power) I cut down from every day drinking to between a third and a half a month AF. Briefly I try not to drink Monday to Thursday but will relax that for a social occasion midweek. Calories were my main motivation:o However, while I didn't put on weight I didn't really lose much either. Recently (4 weeks ago) I started on Slimming World programme. I have worked out that I can have 3 bottles of wine a week on this with a tiny bit extra to waste on other treats. Fortunately I'm not a fan of chocolate or cake.

Briefly that's it. I'm not the only cutter-down on here (I think). Talk more later.
