I've just had my orange bill through for £1554
Obvioulsy its a ridiculous ammount of money all I was doing was reading e-mail and I used google maps a couple of times on my iphone.
I got 2 messages saying that I had used 5MB and then 10 MB but no indication of what I would be charged for that.
I thought there was a monthly cap, i understand that just applies to Europe.
Any suggestions on what I should do and how I should play this with orange?

The iPhone, which is constantly connected to the Internet and has an option to turn off data roaming when abroad?
I would say your only option is to appeal to their good nature and offer to pay half.0 -
Maybe best to skip country and go back to Australia,so thay can't pursue for £1554 !:rotfl:0

that might be a decent idea it cost me less for my sonand I to go there than they are wanting for the phone bill.
there is no way I'm going to pay that ammount of money. I'll pay £150 but not £15000 -

Yeah, give them that attitude when you speak to them. See how far it gets you.
If you used the data then you are bound by your contract to pay it. The network aren't obliged to reduce the bill if it's correct. Any reduction will be a goodwill gesture only.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Did you make yourself aware of the charges before leaving Blighty?
Best option is grovel to Orange, go in ranting and raving and you'll get nowhere......0 -

Expect to be disconnected and billed for the remainder of the contract then, with it marking on your credit file and being passed to a collection agency.0 -

What he said
Contact them and arrange to pay, just ignoring it or making a stand on "principle" will bring torment, DCAs, letters, calls etc etc"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
Simple principle here, you use it, you pay for it. I'm sure you knew that data rates that applied in the UK wouldn't apply in Australia, no? The best advice has already been give. Phone them, and ask politely if they'll do a goodwill gesture. If not, you have to pay or you'll find it very hard to get credit for a long time.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
