Thing is Angel, you asked for our opinions and obviously they are going to be diverse.
If I was the seller and you said that to me then I would of ignored you and put you on my BBL.
On the other hand, you might of just made her think about the cost..who knows??"There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -

*yawns*
Bottom line is postage varies incredibly on simple things that weigh nothing.. some people ask for £1 and others £5. Some people offer free postage but the point is your bid is the value your willing to pay minus the postage costs.
Moaning about postage costs is lame and pointless.
Some people can send heavy amps for £15 via some courier companies, the nearest available to me is 15 miles away in another town and it costs approx £35, plus petrol money,... so often i get ill-informed people moaning about my costs.0 -
This seller may be charging a relatively excesive amount for posting, but as buyers we have a choice...don't pay it - find another listing with a total price you are willing to bid to. Don't entertain greedy sellers and they'll be forced to lower prices...but then Ebay is all about supply and demand.. someone somewhere will be willing to pay if they want it enough!
From a selling point of view it seems wiser to charge reasonable postage and start your item at the minimum you are willing to accept to get a sale rather than inflate postage and risk putting buyers off...but then there'll always be those sellers who'll take the risk!
Ah well, happy ebaying!0 -
I have to say your posts make me *yawn* too, kriss_boy. I've been polite up to now but I see you're not bothering.
It's getting a bit tiresome mopping up after you swing by and post a lot of bad advice, defend the indefensible and generally stir things up for no reason.
Based on this thread, the postage quoted IS excessive. I'm positive ebay would also see it that way - so your argument is redundant. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Has anybody thought that maybe she meant to over quote you on p&p? I don't know what your feedback is like but if someone asked me for a quote and i didn't like their feedback i would be inclined to over quote them on postage.
Just a thought. Carrie.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -

Cheers Mike.... Constructive comment...................................
So...why did you bother even starting the thread by asking if you were rude????????!!!
The answer ( according to more people than just me!! ) was a resounding YES!!!
If you'd already apologised to her........as you claim..why didn't you say so in your OP.................................... whata pointlees post!
Mikeif i had known then what i know now0 -
I dont think it was really rude ...just tongue in cheek lighthearted comments. Why did the seller not include a postage amount in the listing??...because they intended to over charge. If I buy something ccheap enough I dont care how much the postage is as long as the overall price is fair - the OP saud that she could buy a new one by the time she added the postage and if that is the case then that was fact and not being rude.I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

I think we can all agree its excessive but how many sellers over estimate the postage anyway? Youd be stupid not to. As I explained prices stated for postage & HANDLING vary greatly, even on small items which weigh nothing. Some people might offer free postage on a DVD, others may ask £4.
Its a pet hate of mine people moaning about postage as there are millions of sellers out their with excessive postage and its never going to change. One email to one seller isnt going to change a thing.
The fee avoidance thing doesnt really apply unless we were talking about a ridiculous amount of postage stated, like maybe 3 or 4 times what youd expect it to be, but like I said not everyone has a local post office nor a courier company that can deal with specialise items so there are cases where postage and HANDLING costs will appear excessively high but completely justified.
As for swooping in and sweeping up... its a post about whether or not someone was being rude for goodness sake0 -
.......And I haven't got a post office in my village or anywhere near it
.....oh and my feedback is 489 ...100%
I don't usually moan about postage as you will see from my other posts, its just that this was a moment I wanted to share and laugh about! ....obviously not!
