From the error, either it's not compatible with the Desire yet, or T are blocking it for some reason.

I did try entering my operator as o2 as well, made no difference to the error.

It is listed in the list above though, so presumably that poster managed to install it somehow (maybe downloaded the apk?)

Maybe try downloading it over wifi? The site maybe reads the network from the connection ?

If it still boots, then yes if you can find the O2 stock rom.

If it won't, then you have a problem. They may not notice, I don't know how closely they look. But I guess that if a certain class of error can be caused by an improper flash or root attempted they may look more closely?

Its not something that I'd do to a £400 device unless I really had to. There's not that much branding on O2 handsets any way, and as 2.2 will be along in a few weeks any way.

It's your phone and your choice to make.

If O2 isn't that bad will definitely leave it! Would never forgive myself if went belly up! Thanks

I was on my PC when I filled in the form. I was expecting them to send an SMS with a download link.

Gameloft normally add stuff to the Android Market anyway and I'm not that desperate to try it. When I'm sitting around waiting I normally just browse anyway.

In two minds now the San Francisco is out with such a great spec for price, which is £185 less than the Desire i took delivery of this morning.

Question i need answered is is the Desire worth the extra money!

    Help me decide please!!!

Think i might order the SF online and have at look at both in the week.

Anyone know what the major differences will be? Speed is the main one but i will use phone for a bit of browsing, email etc not games. How ill that effect memory/speed?

    Thanks

One big difference I have noticed at a quick glance of the specs is the the San Francisco only has 150MB of phone storage, while the Desire has 512MB, on Android 2.1 all apps are installed to phone storage so you will find the San Francisco will fill up very quickly in comparison to the Desire (especially as the Desire with 2.2 has apps2SD which allows apps to be installed to the SD card).

I also wouldn't expect a budget handset like the San Francisco to get the 2.2 update anytime soon.

You are comparing a premium handset to a budget handset so I also wouldn't expect build quality to be as good either.

  • I'm very much enjoying the new Kindle app. Only problem is that it is making me want an actual kindle even more.

Dial a phone say to charge new phone for 14 hrs, !!!!!!?

How long should i charge it for? HTC Bumph says full charge should take 3 hours, sounds more like it!
  • Charge it until it says charged, maybe another hour. It'll be OK.

You won't get full life out of the battery until a few cycles in though.

The long you charge it for first time the better (over night is good).

But as lozzaman say above, the more time you cycle it the better it get, but the first charge is the important one.
