Just about to book A few days in Spain when I heard on 5 Live that there may be a General Strike in Spain which will effect Baggage handling and Transport. This may begin on Sept 29th.
Does anyone know anything more? Thanks.

Thought this website might be useful as it's finance related, and has some news on the strike : FinanceSpain.com

I have family who where due to fly to Alicante this weekend, but they have rearranged now for later in the year. They where caught out with the volcano problems, and just couldn't face the uncertainty again !

Hopefully the airline industries haven't been hit too hard, I don't want ticket prices rising over christmas !! :)
  • Hi everyone....not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but I thought I would have a go.

Flying to Gran Canaria Wednesday morning with Ryanair and only able to take cabin luggage. Not a huge problem for us unlike the issue it will give families with kids and longer stays.

Anyway...I have had to re-check in with Ryanair but when I did this and re-printed the boarding passes it ony re-printed the outbound and not the return (which I thought was strange). Can anyone shed any light, had to do the same?

    Any help appreciated...thanks all.
  • To anyone flying with Thomson

I got to Gatwick today and checked luggage in as normal so it will go on the plane, the staff confirmed this today:j

Our flight though is delayed by at least 2hrs in the morning, but Thomson are allowing us to stay at the hotel and are ringing me in advance of flying, so not to bad at all.

I don't mind the delay, just didn't want my luggage left behind:cool:

    See you in Ibiza Carol:T
  • I'm in Spain and there is no word here on what might happen tomorrow. Nothing in supermarkets to warn customers that they may be closed tomorrow.
I guess that no-one knows how many will strike and how many people will turn up to work as usual.

  • I'm flying to Majorca tomorrow with Monarch, flights at 05.50.. expecting a delay really as everyone will be trying to fly that get their today flights cancelled
  • Just looked at a few flights from Manchester this morning. All Malaga departures this morning were cancelled, Barcelona was cancelled, an Alicante service departed 25 mins late, a Palma flight was 5 mins late, Fuerteventura flights all departed. Seems its just pot luck really.

My parents just got back from Ibiza this evening. They said the airport was chaos and that there were a lot of cancelled flights but they were fortunate and were only delayed for 2 hours.

They also said their their rep (Thomas Cook) didn't go to the airport with them for fear of getting lynched.
