    Spanish Strikes

Updated: 12pm on Monday 27th September

A general strike affecting Transport Workers, including Air Traffic Control, has been confirmed in Spain on 29th September 2010 commencing at 00:01 (Spanish local time) and lasting until 23:59 (Spanish local time).

At this time the Spanish Government are deciding on the minimum service levels to impose on airline activity and how this will affect each airline. We are working closely with the Spanish Government to try to minimise the impact to our customers.

We would like to reassure our customers that Thomson Airways will not cancel flights; however there may be delays to some flights. We will endeavour to contact customers in the event of significant delays to their original itinerary and provide updated web information on an ongoing basis as appropriate.

On arrival our resort teams are expecting disruption to local services. The team are working on minimising the disruption to our customers and appreciate your understanding at this time.

While the circumstances are outside of our control and are affecting all airlines we do apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and reassure customers that we are doing everything possible to minimise the disruption.

So its still nothing confirming exactly what Thomson are doing except that they're still working with the spanish govt;)

On the above click the link at the top of the page 'latest News' I did find it somewhere else on the site at first, but it seems to have been removed now:(

I suppose if they get you through customs they know where you are if things drastically change for the better, i.e they can get the plane in the air a.s.a.p:D

I expect we'll get another update from Thomson sometime tomorrow, so fingers crossed its good news:D

Good luck to you as well Carol, hope you dont miss to much holiday by sitting at the airport lol

When i flew to spain on my recent trip we we're dleayed initially on the way out by a french air traffic controllers strike. They did not say until we we're all sat on the aircraft ready and waiting to go.

The captain came on the tannoy and said we will just have to sit and wait until we get the all clear. Now a lot of people we're unhappy at this as he said it may well be a couple of hours and they all said they'd prefer to remain in the depatures area and have a few more drinks.

The problem with this is the same as if your sat at home, if they get the go ahead sooner rather than later if you are all sat on the plane or in your case depatures its easier and quicker to round you up than if your sat at home so you get to fly straight away.
  • I recommend looking here:

    http://www.easytravelreport.com/

Its not the best laid out website, and you do have to scroll someway down for Spain, but it usually is very up to date and has plenty of links to airlines.

It covers most European countries and a few outside europe. It certainly was very up to date for Greek strikes this summer.
