How about setting aside so much every month for bills, some for an emergency fund, some to save and some for you to spend so you don't feel guilty. That way you will know how much is there for you to spend on whatever you like without getting into problems again.

I have spent the morning opening different bank accounts at both my banks, so that I can deposit money in different ones for different things. Well thats the plan ! I have the option to change there names, so just need decide which account is for what.

1 more day to day pay :j, so happy I have got there without another payday loan, it has been far from easy, but it has stretched my mind and made me realize there are other ways, instead of reaching for the easy cash option.

    I have said no to.

    Avon Sales
Buying myself anything at all ( I know this temporary, but have proved to myself, I DO NO NOT NEED IT, I ONLY WANTED IT) He able to continue making informed choices.
    No food wastage
    No Petrol Wastage.

Also recovering my dining room chairs, saves me a new dining room suite and next is recovering my long sort of pouffe come table, save me the price of a new one. I am quite enjoying this refurbing thing.

I have seen some people put pics on here. Does anyone know how to do this or do you have to have more stars ? Would like to do a couple or before and after pictures.

This has made me look to all different areas, not just sort out my money.

Good on you. I like the positive attitudes people have on these boards. Glad your DIY is going well (It's better that way cos you can pay what you want to and get things how you want, not how the shops THINK customers will like). I'm going to try get out my sewing machine and a box of fabric dye to refresh & repair last years winter clothes rather than buying new ones.

I think for the photo's you need a to put them on a hosting site and paste the link http://blahblah.etc (not real webpage). I have used photobucket in the past - its free to sign upto, but I'm sure there are others. Someone will be along shortly to tell you exactly how to do it i'm sure.

    KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

    BlueJeans:

Well done on what you have achieved! Sorry to have gone AWOL again but had laptop problems again.

Just need to update my diary again and have nearly caught up.

My OH doesn't notice any of my MSE ways either:mad:.

Well done on saying NO to the Provident lady - it's so empowering when you stop being intimidated by debt collectors.:j
When I first started I was thrilled to refuse to answer security questions so they " could discuss my account with them" - the 1st time I was shaking but was euphoric when I'd done it.

    Hiya to my fellow wannabees.

Had a heavy cold ( like everyone else) so been tucked up in bed, on the mend now :j

Well payday arrived on Friday :j. I get paid four weekly DH get paid 15th of the month, out pay days arrived together, so able to set out my budgets. I have put different money onto different accounts for different things. does not leave me much to last me. I have been in formed that it could take up to 2 weeks for Welcome to pay out on my ppi claim ? knowing my luck it will be more like 4-6 weeks. Pay day loan was paid on payday, so thats gone and determined not to get it back out. so as I have said this month going to be a nightmare (unless ppi does come thought) but I am working on the fact that it will not.

I have budgeted for £140 for food, which works out at £5 per day. I can easily do this as I did last month, some days did not spend or spent only a few £s of it. I have set it at £5 a day so that i do ot have to go dipping into money allocated for other things. Food is for 2 adults.

Petrol money put to one side too £80 for the month. DH will take car to work everyday, saver 12 mile round trips dropping him off and picking him up. I can walk to where I need to be, and the exercise will be good for me.

I went to town on Friday, turned down to coffee opportunities :T one with myself one with a friend. Did not buy myself anything at all and to be honest, I felt just as good not ( thoughts of keeping on track still strong at the moment)

Spent £20 on upholstery material for my stool, also enough to cover my scatter cushions too.

missworks2jobs Hiya and thanks for posting, yes the support on this forum is brilliant, fabulous place to be. Well done with getting out the sewing stuff. I am very handy and able to do stuff (just lazy and easier to buy) maybe we can swap ideas, thanks for the photo information, I will look into it now I am feeling a bit better.

robsmum Hiya, yeak, pesky nuisance when Internet goes down. I feel like my life has ended if I have no Internet connection or I forget my moby and leave it at home  Pathetic, but I am trying to get out of that mode and get on with other stuff.

    Tackling

    overspending
    Overeating
    Procrastination

Is a real tough but its a challenge I will keep going at bit by bit until I get all sorted (of course keep it up too when I get there )

Well I will say bye for now and go get some stuff done

Have a Fab day all, good luck on todays tasks

    :)

    Hi Bluejeans53

Just want to say that I have been looking in at your diary for the last couple of weeks and has given me a great incentive to get my backside in gear to sort my finances out too. This is really my 1st post on MSE (have been looking for the last couple of years). Finally managed to subscribe to your diary!!!!!!

Keep up the good motivation you are doing FAB and keeps folk like myself to do the same!

    Hi BlueJeans,

I remember reading one of your first MSE posts and I was really so pleased to catch up with this thread tonight and see that things are going in the right direction for you. Brilliant news on the PPI! And your determination to cut back and make do and mend is VERY inspiring.

Not sure what your food weaknesses are - and hope you don't think it's cheeky of me to comment on it - but if you've got a sweet tooth like me (still can't bring myself to fully add up how much I spend on secret, 'one-off' chocolate bars a month - my OH is a health freak!), a top tip when you have a craving is to have a mug of hot chocolate, rather than a bar. You can get Options which are something like 37cals a cup, and it's often on offer in the supermarket. Hot chocolate instead of hard, cold chocolate is actually an even better treat now it's getting so cold anyway! This has really helped me start saving money and calories!

Good luck on your continued debt-busting - have subscribed to this thread now, so I'll be watching with interest (and hugs)...
