Time To Sort My Life Out

  • Well I am at worst place I have ever been

No PPI money arrived yet. i was told it could take up to two weeks to receive my money ? why They have my bank details, just put it in ???

I had worked overtime, which gave me extra to payoff my payday loans ( there was two of them). So they went out of the bank, extra was not enough to clear them and not feel the pinch. So It is two weeks to payday, Have not renewed my loans and I in between a rock and a hard place. Practically No money at all.

I paid £500 to clear one payday loan and £200 to clear the other. I am really really tempted to get out the smaller one again. I know a lot of people will say do not do this. But I keep thinking, well I have cleared £700 and just getting £150 to get me over this last hurdle. I am happy that my bill money was put aside in a different account and bills have been paid. In the past I would have not bothered about doing that. So that is a positive.

I know there is Ebay etc but will need money by Monday, so that wont help me.

Computer went off, and of course and no money to get it sorted, so had to wait till my friends husband was free to fix it for free. It really reinforced my resolve to get out of this mess. I so wanted my computer back up and running and had no money, made me so more determined.

But I was able to get lots done in the house.

Stool recovered and cushions made to match
My built in wardrobe all sorted out
Been on Wii fit a lot
    Dropped 4lbs
Cleaned outside windows.....wonder it did not snow here.

So i should be feeling good........but I am not. I am so Bl**dy sick of money ruling myself, but keep telling myself, its your own fault, so stop winging and get on with it.

    :)

    Hi Bluejeans53

Just want to say that I have been looking in at your diary for the last couple of weeks and has given me a great incentive to get my backside in gear to sort my finances out too. This is really my 1st post on MSE (have been looking for the last couple of years). Finally managed to subscribe to your diary!!!!!!

Keep up the good motivation you are doing FAB and keeps folk like myself to do the same!

Hiya Lou06, thanks for posting, so :j happy I am able to help you.
Brilliant that you have posted and feel that you want to get yourself sorted out too. I look forward to chatting with you throughout your journey. You can do this. Have you far to go ? I do understand if you do not wish to discuss it openly. But I find talking and getting it all out in the open to none family and great benefit.

Keep trucking girl and keep posting

    Hi BlueJeans,

I remember reading one of your first MSE posts and I was really so pleased to catch up with this thread tonight and see that things are going in the right direction for you. Brilliant news on the PPI! And your determination to cut back and make do and mend is VERY inspiring.

Not sure what your food weaknesses are - and hope you don't think it's cheeky of me to comment on it - but if you've got a sweet tooth like me (still can't bring myself to fully add up how much I spend on secret, 'one-off' chocolate bars a month - my OH is a health freak!), a top tip when you have a craving is to have a mug of hot chocolate, rather than a bar. You can get Options which are something like 37cals a cup, and it's often on offer in the supermarket. Hot chocolate instead of hard, cold chocolate is actually an even better treat now it's getting so cold anyway! This has really helped me start saving money and calories!

Good luck on your continued debt-busting - have subscribed to this thread now, so I'll be watching with interest (and hugs)...

Hiya and thank you for posting, I do not mind you mentioning my food issues at all. My overeating goes hand in hand with my overspending. I have read up on it and very often one goes in hand with the other. So all constructive help is welcomed :T. As soon as I have the money spare I will try the Chocolate options, money is so tight cant afford them at the moment.

Keep going Girl......thats what i keep telling myself.

CAN WE DO THIS............YES WE CAN :T:T:T

Hello. Just sat and read all of this thread! Love it!
Well done you :T. You've done so well. You've made so many changes and it seems like it's really paying off and you've really motivated me to make a few more changes!

I try very hard to be good but fall off the wagon quite often (I stupidly went to IKEA last month. Eeek!) But I've resolved that from now on as long as my debt at the end of the month is smaller than the previous month that I will be proud!

    Keep up the good work

    Blue Jeans:

Welcom back! Am so sorry you are feeling it at the moment. I know exactly where you are coming from:

I desperately need a haircut (£10 but not viable at moment)
Have catalogue payment that is a week late (£13 ) so they have added £12 admin charge:mad:
Phone bill due - should be £30 and they say £60:mad:

i am sick of money ruling my life!

I know that Payday loans are not the answer, but if you are so short is there any other option. What is the minimum you need?
What is the minimum you can borrow?

Well done on bill money being put aside - good progress.:j

Just in off my last night shift.......back Tuesday night.

Katyroo62 Hiya, goOd to have you on board too. I am delighted that my ramblings encourage others, to get a grip on this very soul destroying issue. :j. I worry that I will fall off the wagon big style WHEN my PPI money arrives in the bank . All that money, just sitting there .......to spend. The temptation will be enormous. We have decided to buy a new TV for Christmas but that is the only planned spend......its the unplanned that is going to be the problem

But I've resolved that from now on as long as my debt at the end of the month is smaller than the previous month that I will be proud!

Katyroo62 what a FABULOUS quote, I am going to take that oneon board. I have decided after reading your quote to go for a small payday loan. It is good how a thought from someone else can get you moving and lift your spirits. Thankyou x

    Hiya,

Phone bill due - should be £30 and they say £60:mad:

I am so with you on the above.......I must have paid £1000s over the years in late payment fees.

Try your local college, ours do cheap haircuts, if you are willing to let a student do it, not ideal but be good as a one off ?

payday loan can be £50 to £1000s and £25 per £100 interest !!!

LET'S GET CREATIVE AND FIND WAYS TO STOP MONEY RULING OUR LIVES.

I am defiantly with you on that one.

Procrastination is a biggy for me. I think the only way to enjoy myself can only be done if there is money spent  Stupid I know but its how I have thought for many many years and it is not easy just to snap out of it.

Spending because its the only way I can feel good
Eating when i am not hungry because ? assume money issues ?
Procrastination because ? I am down over spending and over eating. Not saying these are the reason why, just my thoughts on it, I dont know why, wish the hell I did.

What a mess, all inter linked and so hard to break the habits.

    BUT I WILL, I WILL, I BL:T:TDY WILL.

    :)

    BlueJeans:

As long as you go for the smallest amount that you need to tide you over, then PayDay loans is OK. Don't regard this as failure - take it as a step at a time. KEEP IT AS BABYSTEPS AND YOU WILL SUCEED.

Have you tried to do a spending diary? I started mine about a year ago - I only write in it any cash I spend, no DD etc. I find it really helpful to identify the triggers of when I spend friviously, but also where I am actually spending money!
When I don't do it(like this month) then "Hey, the money monster sucks it all up and I end up with late fees ".

Have you got as far as Menu planning yet? Another good one.

Thank you for tip about hairdressers, I used to go to a local salon for trainee night - they haven't got a trainee anymore. Our nearest college is a 30 mile trip, so would almost cost as much in fuel:mad:

Will answer your Christmas thing on my thread later.

  • Hello again bluejeans and everyone else. Thank you for the welcome. You come across as a realy friendly lady:o

Glad that you are sounding a bit happier again today :D You motivated me into looking for cheaper house insurance (it's due for renewal in Dec) I found one that's about £20 a month cheaper! :p Still need to cancel my old one but its a start.

I second the menu planning. My OH really laughed at me when I first started doing it but he later admitted that he loved the fact that we don't have to pop to the supermarket all of the time and I love the fact that I'm not having to ponder what to cook each day. I also now write my shopping list in 'supermarket order'. This has stopped me wandering and browsing so much which has stopped some of the impulse buys.

I also second what robsmum said about the loan. If you do take it out then it is still a lot smaller than the one you took out last month so it's still a well done to you. :T

  • Hiya, hope everyone having a positive weekend.

    Downs for me this week.

Tomorrow 1st of November bank charges will be added to my bank account, that will take it over drawn , I will pay a fee everyday it is overdrawn and I cannot clear it for two weeks (unless ppi comes through). If I apply for my payday loan it will go into bank and they will deduct it from my fees ?. Just realizes that last night DOH.

Ups having a very productive weekend.

Started decorating my bedroom. The challenge is to do it as cheaply as possible and make it look nice. So have not spent a penny, just as well got none to spend.

Pulled out every solitary thing from built in wardrobes :eek::eek:
Looked in the out house, found silk emulsion that I did bedroom in last time, but did not do inside the wardrobes, so room was biscuit and when you slid open wardrobes it was lilac.........bow its all biscuit, looks good. Also found full tin of gloss paint, so glossed what needed to be done inside of wardrobes.

while that was drying I made a start on all the JUNK from out of the wardrobes. Clothes is ridiculous size 10s and 12s Yes I am working on losing weight......but I need to be realistic ( always set unrealistic goals before) I am size 20 now.

I saw a shop last time I was at the other end of town. Its charity shop style but they sell your clothes for you ? Next time i am over there I will check it out.

When all was dry, I started putting back only what I wear......hardly anything went back. Bags on top of the landing to get rid of. I would like to ebay some of them, as i buy on eBay but never sold.......depends how much it will cost ?

Well that my ramble for this morning.....be back tonight to catch up.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

P.S. my second job (which I do as and when) rang me and I did 5 hours on Friday gone, using this as Christmas present money or towards it anyway.

    :)

Katyroo62. I am not at the moment doing a spending diary as so little to spend, but I am planning on doing. Maybe I should get in the habit now ?

Menus....I have done a couple of days ahead once or twice and must admit it was a good to be sorted...but alas I went back to my daily shopping. Again as money is really short (nearly none existent), I am only buying what i really really need.

supermarket order is a fab idea. As you say no searching, just pick up as you go round. Yes that another will try for me.

Thank you to everyone for your input support :A
