just grabbing info now!

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 21st September 2010. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning well its till dark here in the boro, its does feel like like autumn has arrived. Were up stupidly early today as OH had to get the bus into work, the car is still holed up in the garage.
My plans for today consist of making fishcakes, sponges, sorting out courses and finishing bean bags. Oh how exciting my life is :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope your all okay x
enjoy your day peeps!

  • Morning Kezlou & all to follow

Hope everyone is OK, still not been able to catch up on the threads fully - just no time at the moment :o

Training went really well yesterday - technology is amazing. Just felt a little brain fried from thinking about something different. Had a little homework and got that done no problem.

Meal out last night was cancelled :( but probably was for the best as don't think I would have got everything done in time. Was so tired that didn't cook dinner, instead had Dominos 2 4 1

Today is a bit mad too, need to get all essential bussiness stuff done first thing, log on for training then as soon as that is finished got to shoot into Chelmsford to pick up my glasses (for reading). I will be treating myself to a Starbucks too :D

Its quite a bit of a change for me, worked at home for the last 10 years with no real structure so will be truthfull and say that OS will take a back seat this week  whilst I get into routine but it won't be gone for good I promise!

    Have a great day.x

Second time I crossed when starting the daily.
    Welcome Mrs Em
Supposed to be warm & sunny here today so the washing is on the line, hopefully it will dry.
Breakfast eaten, packups made, hubby dropped at the station, fish fed, DW emptied & now nearly time for work.
I bought Nigellas kitchen book & Levi Roots book yesterday £18 for the 2, Christmas gifts for DD1 & DSIL2, I will look through them & copy any recipes I fancy first, lol.
I'm babysitting for the foster children tomorrow, assuming my CRB check is acceptable to the Social Workers, I'm looking forward to it, they are lovely children.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning,
Hope you are doing ok and that the sun is shining wherever you are :j:j

I had a really good journey to and from to London on the train. In particular one young chap (a rail worker) at MK station was there to meet us off the train with a wheelchair on the return journey. I was about to collapse with tiredness and he was stood just outside the carriage door and had taken a "punt" that we would be on that particular train because we decided to take an earlier train. Well I reckon God was on my side but he used his initiative and it was very much appreciated.

I had lots to think about at my appointment but it was very useful.

My doggie went to the vet yesterday and he is not too worried. Pops is being spayed in two weeks so they will remove lump then.

So OS has been minimal and as Im tired today its probably going to be notable by its absence. However house is fairly tidy and getting washing up-to-date in my new WM which is wonderful.

    Have a lovely day xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Its going to be a beautiful day here, really hot apparantly, and turning bad again tomorrow.

I am keeping dd off again, she spent most of yesterday white as a sheet flopped on the sofa, she is complaining of ear ache too, another day at home will do her good, need to wake her up in a while.

Tacos for dinner tonight, nice and easy, hm soup for lunch, cream of tomato from saturday. I am off to work, so quick tidy round before I go, need to start on the plums and apples tonnight, my Aunt said wash and peel apples and freeze in slices raw, which will have a bit of time stewing them down :T, I also need to get a large Jam pan, anyone have any ideas ??

Will shove a wash on tonight and get it on the line for a while, ok better get on, have good days all xx

    Morning fellow OS-ers :D
Bit grey here, but forecast hopeful so putting WM on soon - late up cos I must have switched off alarm in my sleep! :rotfl:
Bitsy - have PMd you the recipe, not very exciting but I hope you like it.
Yesterday was mad - friend took DS to nursery cos I had to wait in for 'phone repair man, not been receiving calls & may have missed childminding customer  Then DH needed car, so rushing around to get to nursery to pick up. Email not working, took all afternoon to sort, then DH home late so I was late to evening class. Computers there were playing silly bu99ers, had texts from friends on street to say power was out & came home to find it still out (over 3 hrs in total) & DH sitting in the dark cos he doesn't know where candles etc are! Aaaarrrggghhh!!:eek:
Anyway....today WILL be calmer - I get paid today so I can afford a new magazine & some chocolate for lunch. :rotfl::j
Hope you all have lovely mornings, see you later. Hugs, kisses, high fives all round.

Great start here! Boys dressed, lunches made, washing all done (yesterday) so when the school run is done and I've tidied up will be doing some exercise for me!! Have vowed to be more positive about everything at the moment. Pasta bake for tea tonight and will need to get the bread machine going for lunch as well. Need to plan my garden idea too - and get started on it - will have a go at it this weekend. Am planning a play area for the children, and will then get some railway sleepers to form a raised bed for my veg - have already planted onions and garlic - so would like to get some space for carrots and potatoes.

Should keep me out of mischief for a while! Hugs to those in need xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning all

Beautiful morning here, if a bit crisp.

WM is on again! Towels today. I figured as I was off all week I'll just wash everything :rotfl:. DW will go on shortly.

I have uni this afternoon. We all have to do a 10 min presentation on whatever we want, to the rest of the class today  now put me infront of rowdy teens and I can do this no probs ;), but the though of doing infront of adults is making me nervous :rotfl:. But we will all be in the same boat. I'm doing it on my work cos I think I'm fairly unique as in the rest of my class all seem to work in standard education or evening classes. It's mostly prepared, just gotta finalise it.

Uni isn't til 2 so will be pottering round this morning, might make a start on sorting out the spare room. I also need to prep some food for uni as it's 2 til 7, and I normally have dinner by 6! So will make a salad to take with me.

    Have a good day all

The onion flan we had for tea was yummy, will have some more later for lunch.
WM is on - 2 loads to do today - I stripped DS2s bed as I want to make the most of todats good weather.
Have cleaned kitchen and bathroom floors and hoovered upstairs and down.

Hey all hope your days have started off well wherever you are!
    esmf73,
a veg box made of railway sleepers sounds amazing, like it'll be so cottagey as well!

I've not been up long and already feel really deflated? No work for a while now and had a few more rejections, i don't know what i'm doing wrong, i think i'm quite a good applicant for 19 and part time work compared to lots of people my age? 5 years experience, good references, good grades, i'm chirpy! but friends with zilch experience and enthusiasm are getting hired faster than me.
Anyway, it's actually quite nice to have a day off. Thinking of attempting some olive bread with my bread mix and mass of olives. Or bread with an olive crust? Hmmm!
