Are you sure her housing benefit is per week and not month. From what I know of SDA (which ain't alot). You get if if no-one else is claiming carers allowance for you. Maybe someone more knowledgable will fill you in a bit more.
SDA was payable (no idea of when it stopped for new claims) for people who were / are unfit to work. The severe disability premium (SDP) is payable to anyone who is classed as living alone, has no-one claiming carers allowance for them and is on mid or high rate care DLA.Sealed pot challenge #232. I rang up fraud helpline, and they say that my friend are NOT suppose to have SDA because she only had a middle rate care DLA and to quality for SDA you must have the higher rate of care DLA but they reckon that my friend isn't into fraud because it probably wasn't her fault of wrongful getting SDA as she not suppose to get it. More likely she get away with it and there is nothing they can do about it.0

No, I am not jealous of her getting more benefits than me because I am seeking work, I want a job rather than on a benefit. I care of my friend and ensure she don't have to pay back at later stages if found she make a mistake of not suppose to have SDA in the 1st place.
sh1305 where did you get this information from about DLA middle or higher rate of care for SDA claim ?0 -
You don't need to be on HRC:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/OtherBenefitsAndSupport/DG_10016200 there is nothing in that link that mentions HRC.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Ok then, it sound like SDA are allow then. Because it was claimed before 2000. But maybe the rules had changed now for HRC.0

Hmmmm Why do people get disability just for being deaf. My son is deaf and is a roofer. It does not stop him living a normal life. He goes to the pub, plays pool, black belt at karate, got 11a-c GCSE grades at school. School wanted to put him in a special class and i refused point blank. Nothing wrong with his brain.

No, the rules haven't changed, they are still the same as they always have been, HRC is not, and never has been a requirement for SDA.For what it's worth, SDA with an age addition is about £78 a week
There are 3 different levels of age addition, depending on the age you are when SDA became payable, the younger you are when you qualify for SDA the more the age addition is.
SDA stopped for all new claimants in 2000, anyone in receipt of SDA before then carries on getting it.0 -

Being deaf affects everyone differently. Being deaf is a disability as defined under the disability discrimination act.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
