My friend had told me she got DLA middle rate care and got SDA as I told her that she shouldn't claimed SDA (she was claimed before 2000) because she was disabled 80% due to unfit for work but I think SDA is only for peoples who had higher rate of DLA care or disabled 80% such as blind person or Industrial Injuries or War Disablement Pension schemes. She never seek any work for 20 years and single lone parent with a child (boy) aged 13.

My friend told me that alots of unfit for work peoples claimed both SDA and DLA no problems but I felt this isn't right.

Is she fraud the system of claimed SDA £78 a week, DLA £47 a week, IS £85, CB £20 a week, CTC £50 a week, HB £125 a week, CT £93 a week total income weekly of £498!

SDA - Severe Disabled Allowance
DLA - Disability Living Allowance
IS - Income Support
CTC - Child Tax Credit
CB - Child Benefit
HB - Housing Benefit
CT - Council Tax

  • Are you sure her housing benefit is per week and not month. From what I know of SDA (which ain't alot). You get if if no-one else is claiming carers allowance for you. Maybe someone more knowledgable will fill you in a bit more.
I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

  • It £500 a month (HB) sorry ! I had now re-edit it.
  • The council tax is a bit high too, that might be per month as well

I have no idea about SDA other than i thought it was about £60. I also thought income support was about £65 the same as JSA?

that council tax figure must be monthly.

With friends like that, who needs enemies.... I'm all for exposing lying and cheating fraudsters but it strikes me that the woman making the benefits claim here could well be genuine and her so-called 'friend' is a little jealous at the benefits that her friend is receiving. Maybe I'm completely wrong but I'm thankful that you don't ring a bell as a friend of any of my friends!

It does sound genuine the only thing I found odd was the HB and CT amounts but these must be monthly.

I'm not talking about spelling or grammar.

Have a look back through the posting history and you will see what I mean. ;)
  • For what it's worth, SDA with an age addition is about £78 a week
  • OP, looking at your posting history it seems that you are probably just jealous that this person is getting more benefits than you.

If you think your friend is claiming a benefit fraudulently you can tell her your thoughts then speak to DWP for advice.
