Where is the event being held? At a recent wedding I went to in the Lakes we had Grassmere gingerbread in little boxes (it is a traditional local aphrodisiac) as the wedding favours.

The black tie function I went to earlier this year had large goldfish bowls half filled with water and had flower heads and a candle floating in them. Sprinkled on the table were shiny stars.

you're right about being careful with balloons, you really have to get them inflated on the day of the event as the latex ones only last about 36 hours before all the helium has leaked out.

few questions before i start rambling on have you a costco nearby?

    A market /cheap material place ?

if so, I presume your tables are round if so all you need is 1.5 metre sq per table of voile per table(I would say gold ) dont worry about getting the raw edges sewn nobody ever can tell but over white cotton table cloths ,6 glass tea lights from Ikea with scatter confetti
have got loads more to write but baby has woke up !
  • The tables are rectangular to seat 10-12.

So I could buy lengths of voile and leave raw edges?

The lovespoons are good. I'll email the seller for a bulk purchase quote :)

  • Ideas needed please, I'm up against it with this one

I need to dress 10-12 tables for a black tie function. Approx 120-140 guests. In 5 weeks time

My colour scheme is gold and cream ... ish.

All of the ladies will have a small (wrapped) gift worth approx £2

I need flowers or candles or something on each table.

I have white linen tablecloths and silver candelabra for each table. I'd like to use an overlay of some kind to make it look prettier. I need napkins.

    I need heeeeeeeelp!!

    All ideas gratefully received.

It may not be appropriate for this occasion, however I had a friend who used to make ice bowls (putting one bowl inside another bowl and filling the middle with water) In the water she placed petals, leaves, etc to make it look pretty. When it was frozen and on the table she would serve food from it, I think it must have been salads (nothing hot of course)
  • At my friend's daughter's wedding they had a tea light for each person at the table with the person's name written on it in gold. It was very effective.
