People, the OP has no disk space - new programs will need disk space - where are they going to download programs to?

Yes, but we don't know if the OP has a DVD writer......

Even CDs will be cheaper and will get us some space. But we still don't even have any details of the machine.

They have spoken of having cleared some space..... :) Of course it's all up in the air right now. :)

It looks as if the OP has 80 GB HDD, which translates into 74.5 GB of usable space. So rather than there being an extra drive, the missing 5GB may be a hidden partition.

Money Mad, is the laptop running Windows XP or Vista?

When my disk was nearly full, I followed Googler's steps above to track down what was hogging it. Most of the stuff was what I expected - music, photos, videos etc. - but around 7Gb was taken up by Google Desktop, which appears to take a copy of lots of your data and uses the copy to speed up its desktop searches. I deleted that and uninstalled Google desktop, which would otherwise have just started copying aall over again.
  • Donnie, the laptop is running Windows XP

    Many Thanks
