hi miss daisies! welcome to the club!
Just got back form the market and bought some apples, onions, 2 cucumbers and an lettuece for £2 so that should us the week, i hope.
Just finished lunch so going to crack on with the chicken/bacon pie in a bit.
Glad you found it funny Kezlou. I read your subsequent post after mine and I was worried you might think I was being a bit flippant as I didn't realise money was quite that tight
Well done on your fruit and veg purchases £2 what a bargain. Why don't I have somewhere as cheap as that? I think the closest bargain market to us is Birmingham Wholesale and the cost to get there (not to mention the lack of time) would negate any savings
Anyway been a busy bee this morning.
Have done my daily vac <rollseyes>, cleaned the kitchen, mopped (on my hands and knees I might add) the floors downstairs, made a lemon drizzle cake for MacMillan coffee morning at school on Friday, made my nutella cake and had a tidy upstairs. Oh and wrapped up DS's birthday pressies for next week (he's got Lego and a DVD of Button Moon :rotfl:)
Boy it's roasting here this afternoon. I really ought to go sit in the sun and get some Vitamin D..........
Welcome to the newbies :j
DD&D - thanks for the recipe it looks lovely

Afternoon everyone
Not managed to post the last few days, note to self must try harder. Lovely sunny day here today so washing out on line.
Been to a meeting at ds2 school with Educational Psychologist as they have to amend his statement, I just hope they dont cut down the number of hours that he gets. Now the fun begins looking at the high schools that will best meet his needs. He is still so far behind which wasn't helped last year when he was off for 4 months.
not much os today done a bit of washing, will finish the hedge as the battery ran out of charge yesterday when I only had a small amount to do. Tea will be a quick one as I start my beginners spanish tonight at college. Need to pick DS2 up from the outword bound centre as they run an after school club on a Tuesday.
Celyn - congratulations on your news.
Jayward - hope you are feeling better.
JackieO - Your tea sounded lovely
JackieG - enjoy your lunch.
Welcome to anyone joining, it is a lovely place to post. Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take Care.

Hiya :hello:
Miss tru got the job in Matalan :T :j She starts on 1st October.
Mr tru's job ends at the end of November
That's when the shop shuts, but they'll still need a handful of people to sort out orders, deliveries and accounts - hopefully he can stay til it's all tied up. I have some work there over the next few weeks, a bit from home (spreadsheet stuff) and some in the shop. So my pay for that will be hidden away til we've completely run out of money.
I'm selling second-hand stuff on eBay, I'm not making much but money is money. My brother is giving me a load of stuff to sell too :T The girls are laying less now that the days are shorter so I'm not selling many eggs.
I think mr tru should grab the opportunity to go to college, he wants to work with kids with problems, or be a counsellor of some sort. Something useful, rather than listen to the demands of rich, bored housewives who insist that because their spoilt brat spilt ribena on the carpet, it's up to the shop to clean it or replace it. What planet are these stupid people on?
He's flatly refusing to claim benefits though, and we have no savings, so I'm not sure exactly how we're going to manage college
He's actually on a really good wage at the mo, but we haven't seen the benefit of it because as the income went up, we upped the debt repayments to match. Maybe if I send copies of the redundancy letter to the debt companies, we can reduce the payments right down and save the extra to keep us going for a while :undecided I can probably trim our outgoings a bit.
Grab that business opportunity while I can?? Every time we've been sensible in the past it's made no difference so maybe I should just jump right in :undecided
Most of that ^ was me talking to myself, trying to get it all straight in my mind. Sorry bout that
Will pop back when I have a clearer plan. Bulletproof0 -
I have to laugh, bitsy, gotta admit it was funny!!!!:D:D:D
you cheered me up no end!
As for the market, it was super cheap today, its just a small local on thats on once a week. Sometimes it really rubbish but today i was in luck. REally wanted to 20 nectarines for £1 but no i resisted and ran away instead.I'm quite lucky as its only a 10 minute walk away from me. Well 20 minutes with me crutches
D& D thanks for the recipe!
Congrats miss tru!
ALl goes well with you and OH, got to i admit, if my OH loses his job we both decided he's going self-employed.I'm enrolling myself onto courses this week. So were jumping in with both feet.
I still haven't made anything with gram flour
but i have made the pastry for the pie.Just hung four loads of washing, so feel like i've accomplished something at least. 0 -

Afternoon all,
Welcome Newbies, this is a nice place.
Congratulations Ms Tru.
Sorry to hear that people are finding it so difficult to make ends meet...I am trying to cut back as much as possible, in case we need to help any of the offspring if they have difficulties, DS3 is working all hours he can, 2 jobs, they were in a right pickle some time ago but think they are straightened out somewhat now....not sure how good their budgetting skills are....
Not a bad day here, windy but no rain, spent morning getting driving licenses renewed....current license is a receipt, would only give me one until my 70th birthday but gave OH 3 year one and he will be 70 in November....not fair! Another €40 gone. Went to ALdi then and spent €81 odd....no more shopping until next month, we can live off freezer and cupboards. Got a kilo tin of dried milk in a South American shop....€8.70, not bad I think as it will do me for ages for bread and sauces...they have bigger tins too, but felt kilo was my limit moneywise.
Have chopped up cakes and put some in freezer so that I will have something to whip out if people come in for cuppa, won't bother taking it out for myself so will be good from 2 angles.
Met a friend in town, her husband died a couple of weeks ago and I had seen her brother's death on this morning's paper, she is very philosophical about both deaths, both men were alcoholics and contributed greatly to their own deaths, she is now very lonely as both her children have left home and she lives in a huge old house.
Not sure what we are having for dinner....something from freezer as it is bulging and I need to make space to freeze some beans, last of them soon I think but nice to have some in reserve for winter.
Hugs to all in need or want

Mr tru works here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-11383103 Yes that's her from On The Buses

Bargainbird, thanks
I didn't know you could get funding/benefits while at college, I'll look into it and probably will bombard you with loads of questions if mr tru decides to go
Right then, I've had a cuppa and a couple of cigs while having a think - 'what can I do about this right now?' and the answer is food. So I'm going to make some runner bean chutney
When we've used some food from the freezer, I'll make a load of chicken curry. And I won't buy any more tobacco (sob) or choc buttons (sob sob sob sob). When the cigs and choc run out, I'll stay away from here cos I'll be in a bad mood and I don't want to inflict it on you lot

Hi everyone, bit of a catch up while waiting for DH & DS2 to come home.I've had a mostly productive day,two lots of washing done and on the line. Its not dry as its overcast here, but a lot of moisture gone from it so will finish it off in the TD later.
I went into town and paid a load of coins in at the bank,I had £33,and DS1 had £15,not too bad. Then I went to Dunelm, where I bought 2m of white cotton needed for one of my projects, and some new pinking shears, and Hobbycraft where I got 2 reduced rubber stamps and a paper punch in the shape of a Christmas tree,to make my cards, and a ball of wool for my next crochet, which in my head is a kind of neutral spend because of the coins
Then up to the hospital to see my Auntie, she was very confused and said she was very tired as she'd been decorating 'this place' last night and its a big place to do all on your own.Bless.
Stovies for tea,so better go and finish getting it ready.
Tru Sorry about DH job, pleased about Miss t though.
JackieO I'll look out for those lamburgers, they sound yummy
JackieG Hope you feel better after your lunch out with DH.
