Morning All, off to get the sticky.......................................................
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 21st September 2010. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning Everyone
Hope you are all fine, didn't catch up with the thread yesterday as had a doing day (which was very much needed)
Today I start my online training for my new job. 10-2. Am excited and nervous at the same time. Have a feeling DS may be off school with a sore throat but OH is also home so he can look after him.
Am cooking pasta for OH & kids later but I am meant to meeting friends at Nando's :j will see how my course goes and what homework I have
Not much else to report so will get going as need to get all my office essential stuff done this morning - have a great day & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x

P.S. The Morrocan lamburger I had from M&S's last night was gorgeous It was topped with couscous and apricots .There were two in a packet reduced to £2.00 so I put one into my Remoska and cooked it for about 20 minutes along with a part-cooked jacket potato.sprinkled some grated chees on the top and it was delicious .I will have the other one tonight for dinner.very yummy i can highly reccomend it .0 -
Morning!
May I join y'all? Been lurking for a while now, can sometimes be found over on the wedding board but six months after the big day find myself drawn over here more and more.
Just a few words of intro... have lived on the Isle of Man for about 18 months now, work full-time as does OH who travels a fair bit for worktoo, no kids. Pretty much always cook from scratch and am interested in getting more OS in other ways.
Now thats over with...
Today, I have brought chicken casserole to work for lunch, made it yesterday with chicken which had been defrosted for another dish I didn't end up making and needed to cook quickly, potatoes which were sprouting and other veg which wouldn't have lasted much longer.
Other than that, should be a low-spend day, only need to spend £1.10 on bus fare, I walk to work but it's a huge hill so I never walk home, down the hill is fun but up is very much not fun!
Nice to meet you all, sorry for rambling, I'll be quiet now.0 -
Morning all
Clear and bright here, so will take a chance and put the washing on the line.
Had a bit of a mad Monday but it does make the day go quicker if you're busy. Had the delicious smoked sausage pasta last night for dinner and a glass of vino - yummy.
DH was up and away at stupid early o'clock I did wake for a moment but soon fell asleep again. DS1 has Cadets tonight so I'll be taxi as DH has a meeting straight after work.
Dinners tonight will be quick and easy - jacket pots, something from the freezer. DS2 brought a cookery letter home yesterday he will be staying late on Thursday to plan the meal, then ordering ingredients on line, they cook the meal on Friday after school then a parent/carer for each child goes and eats the meal served to them by the children - he's done it before and it's great - so will be fed on Friday evening!
Not away this weekend so have time to catch up a little, I love being able to go away but sometimes it's nice to have some time at home.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Good luck with the course essex-girl!
oo nasty csarina i'm dreading to think how much ours is going to cost in all:(. We really can't afford to get it done, but we need for OH's work. He's using public transport at the moment but its so expensive. £13+ a day, normally that would do us a week in the car, and its and estate!
hmm sounds yummy jackieo
hi skylarker!!!!!!!!!!!!! lovely to meet you!
I'll catch up with yesterdays thread in after i've taken the boys to school. Didn't have time last night.
Well day one of skintness - all done. Pack lunches sorted.
Just a quick hello as i've got to get the boys sorted out for school.
Have a good day all x0 -
Good morning all!
I've been AWOL-Its over six months since I posted!!
I've been having some fertility treatment which is expensive and I really need to get back to some thrifty OS ways as my CC has taken a bit of a beating and I need to take it out of my purse. I've started reading this board over the last few days (I'm on my 2 week wait to see if the treatment has worked) and feel I need to join in again to keep on track.
I'm off sick from work at the moment and yesterday was spent making blackberry jelly, crabapple jelly, scones and chicken and veg soup which was yummy. I have loads more blackberries so will be on the blackberry jelly again today. I also have lots of ironing to get through so hope to make a start on that.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning All!
A bitgrey here this morning but not too cold. Welsome to all the newbies and returners from the last couple of days, I seem to have misplaced my manners somewhere
OH is at home this morning so we are going out for a wee while. I need to go buy DS1 a school sweater as his from last year is too small now, he's grown an inch or so in the last month  and then my lovely husband is taking me for lunch, not OS at all but we very rarely do this
I was very down yesterday and took to my bed at 7pm, so hopefully I'll have a bit more spring in my step today.
Washing just to go on this morning, and packups to put in bags and that's the limit of OSiness in here.
Hope you all have a lovely day, hugs where needed, and as coldstreamalways so nicely said, high fives where needed. That made me smile, we should all high five each other every morning

Good morning,
I am off to visit a friend today. My only OS will be to shift some of the items that the house elf no longer plays with to my friend's house, where she assures me her small son will be delighted to receive them. I've done the pre-christmas sort out, so our toy room looks much tidier (at last). It's still recovereing from having a fridge, 2 freezers and a microwave in there while we had the kitchen done.
Take care all of you0 -
Morning os lovlies

Looks like a nice day here, I have a load of towels in the wm, so will get them on the line.
I have kept dd off today, when I collected her from the station yesterday she was white as a sheet, and did not feel at all well, she came in and just flopped on the sofa with a hot water bottle, she has seen the nurse and asked to come home, but they wont let the older ones unless its an emergency, so I thought it best to keep her off. I am going to cook the last two of my friends duck eggs with soldiers and get her up in a while, I hope I dont get it, feel strangely hot and spaced out this morning.
My mum phoned last night to say that my aunt was coming down today, from Tapladys neck of the woods, with bags of crab apples :T, I have no jars left, so will have to get some more, going to make crab apple jelly, and crab apple and chilli jelly, OH thinks we will be ok if ever there is a world shortage of chutey or Jam, I have a cupboard full of them :rotfl:
Goint to make a couple of shepherds pies later on, one for tonight and one for the freezer, need to nip out and get spuds, as the ones sainsbugs delivered were rotten , had to chuck the lot, don't know how the person that picked them missed the smell, it was horrid.
Also need to clean out the food cupboard, and wash all the fronts of the cupboards down, the rest of the day will be spent pottering.
JackieO hope the week passes quickly for you xx
Welcome to all new posters xx
JackieG chin up my darling, have a good day xx
Have good days all xx0
