What do you mean by separate handset?
If you use skype, you'll be using your pc or laptop, and for that you need a recording device, ie. a headset with a mic and then you download pamela, which automatically records the calls for you and saves them as a file, which you email to them.
But if you're not using skype, then you can use your ordinary phone and call the 0845 number before dialling the appropriate number, and that records the call. But then with this, like the OP said, you really need to have inclusive minutes for 0845 numbers.0 -
Would you believe I was on a fraudulent Skype website? No wonder I couldn't find this information (I wasn't being lazy honest!). I realised it was a dodgy website when I got a malware warning! It had the correct logo on and everything.....anyway, thanks Princessx for answering that. So I see I get a code to use and I can use Skype from any phone, that is fantastic!! Now I just need to find a good headset.....:jThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

On another MSE thread a TalkTalk representative has stated that TalkTalk landlines cannot be used for business purposes.
Please be assured that I have checked his claim out thoroughly, even seeking legal advice on the matter, and TalkTalk landlines may be used for business purposes. Final confirmation of this was received in a communication from TalkTalk's Communications Director earlier today.
However, I would suggest that anyone wanting to use their phone for business purposes check this out with their existing phone provider.
If you are transferring to a new phone supplier to do telephone survey work, I would also recommend telling this to the sales person at the point of sale, to see their response.0 -

Haha, made me giggle.
Are you looking at the same skype im looking at? I think you can get those skype phones, so if you're on about that then yes. Otherwise if you're using skype online, then you need to purchase the monthly landline one which is £4.49 i think it was, VAT inclusive.
And sorry, i meant you need a headset with a mic (i was looking for the proper word for that and just stated recording facilities, but yeh i meant a mic lol:o)0 -

How did you manage to get onto a fake Skype website?
This is the genuine site...

Wow this looks perfect for me!
My DD is at school for 6 hours a day and I'm finding it impossible to find any work for school hours/term time etc.
I have Talk Talk alrdy, so am i right in saying i wouldn't have to pay anything as calls are free? or should i ring them to check due to useing it as a business thing.?
I also have Skype already and a headset due to being an avid gamer and chatting to friends over the internet! So would this be the better option...although from reading the thread i understand you have to pay a monthly fee and for the recording device whereas Talk talk is in theory 'free' and no added cost onto whatever i pay already.
I'm used to making lots of phone calls in my job that i work 5 hours a week currently and find people lieing about who they are/if their other half is in because i sound like a sales person lol! when really im ringing to confirm their appointments with our practice, so i can see it would be difficult sometimes to get people to agree to the surveys but its worth a shot0 -
Nara...
You will need the ANYTIME CALLS BOOST on your account (you can sign up for that on-line) @ £4/month. It may take 24 hours to activate.
The 40GB allowance you presumably have with TalkTalk is more than ample for your broadband needs. Just be careful, they don't try to sell you add-ons you don't need!0 -
I just checked with my other half and i got it wrong we have broadband and the telephone line with BT but our calls are with Talk Talk! This prolly makes it confusing lol, God knows why he set it up like that.
So I'm not really sure what would be covered nowi will try and dig out the paper work and have a look

Hi there. Can i just ask something. I've already asked optimum contact but they haven't replied yet, so was wondering if you knew the answer if you could quickly reply back just to ease my mind.
Basically I did a survey about 40 minutes ago, the pamela software always brins up a dialogue box to click yes or no to record the software. If you don't click anything, it doesn't record at all. Anyway, for all my completed surveys so far, i always remembered to click yes. (I don't know where to go to, to make it automatic). But the last survey i did, i completely forgot to record it, and the survey already went ahead so i immediately clicked on the sound recorder on the laptop. When the survey ended, i listened back to the clip and realised that the sound recorder only recorded me and not the other person and therefore im wondering if the payment would be void because of this.
Oh and i haven't sent them it, as i dont think it would be very useful as they're not hearing the replies so they have no idea if im making them up.
Arghhh, if they can't pay, i just wasted 10 minutes for nothing lol. So stupid.0
