Money Moral Dilemma: Should I sell her my car?

Just sell her the car, its her problem not yours if she gets caught or has an accident.
If she actually didn't have a driving license, then it would be a different matter as she would be a danger on the road, but having lost her license is no big deal. If she gets into a situation where she needs to show her license, she'll just have to pay up for a new one. If she gets caught with no tax or insurance then she'll have to pay a fine, which is not your problem and doesn't actually hurt anyone except for her. If she's in an accident which she caused then she'll be liable to pay the other party's insurance claim just as her insurance company would be if she had one, which again doesn't hurt anyone except for her and the other party can even claim the excess from her as well if they can be bothered.
Just make sure all the documentation is correctly filled out and sent off to the dvla when you sell it to her and wash you hands of it, keeping the letter which they send you to prove you no longer own the car.0 -
Sell the car on the condition that there's a free exotic dance thrown in, then shop her to the authorities.
well said that man , sell for £1500 , then shop her if she drives it before getting insurance and a licence and road tax deserves all she gets with this lack of respect for anyone but herself0 -
you are in a dilemma because you will know that she has neither of these legal requirements.
The obvious result was only to create this dilemma. This suggests to me someone could be of malevolent manipulative character that likes to mess with peoples heads for the sheer hell of it. So avoid them in all matters, and certainly dont go making any deals.
But for that matter, how trustworthy is the person who reported here as seller?0 -
I'd have sold her it for £1000 and then reported her.0

your neighbour crashes into your car and as she has no insurance you will have to claim from yours. It is is possible that she could so since you live in proximity to her so is this something you want to risk? From a moral point of view she is an adult and free to make her own decisions and if for example she were to buy a car from a second hand car dealer they would have no such qualms and she could merrily drive illegally until caught. Given that a lot of roads now have static ANPR cameras which send alerts to police vehicles within a specified range I doubt if it will be long before she is caught and the car seized.0

If you sold her the car and she failed to insure it, you would have no legal responsibility for her actions. Similarly, if she bought a car from someone else, you would have no control over what she did about insurance. But, if I knew what she intended to do, I would choose not to sell it to her.
Actually, it is no longer that easy to get away with this. Insurance and tax records are now linked electronically and it is not possible to tax a vehicle without current insurance and a valid MOT.0 -
I wouldn't sell a car to a neighbour, simples. However, the ridiculous statement by RUTHNJASPER needs a dose of looking at. So if you sell a car to someone and they drive away and deliberately run someone over later, you are to blame. Even if they don't do it deliberately you are to blame. Just the same as if you'd sold them a gun and they blew someone away. Really. I'm going for a lie down before I say more....0

I wouldnt sell the car to her knowing her plans about it.. And if I see her in another car anytime soon, i will also report her to the police as well.
If she ever cause any damage to somone else's car or god forbid kills someone, you wont be legally responsible with it but i bet you will feel very guilty about being a part of it..
I dont know if you belive in Karma, but i always think these things come and bite you in the end. For those who entertains the idea of selling it; I really hope they dont have to loose someone the loved in an accident involves an unlicenced driver...0 -

All you have to ask yourself is if she kills someone whilst driving the car you sell her could you live with yourself? There is a reason she does not have a licence. Also if she buys a car elsewhere you have a moral and civic duty to report her to the police.0
