Hi can i just ask where you put all those figures on the BR forms? only it doesn't ask for all of them? just household and council tax, elec, gas and then any other (do you put them all in any other?)
    and
Should it balance at the end ie what we have coming in is what we have going out ? by adjusting the figure we spend on food I can make it balance otherwise we spend over our incomings? (does that make sense?)
do they want to see it balance or doesn't it matter if it minus figure?

There are a couple of things here:

    1. on my form, there was a bottom 'box' for additional necessary expenditure, and you could continue, if necessary, on the back of the form.

    2. Don't worry if yu can not complete any section on the form. When you take it to the court, or the Official Receiver, they will give you help with any part of the form that you are unsure of.

...And thanks Scoot for putting your list of outgoings on this thread - I'm putting ours together at the moment so any reference points as to what's acceptable to the OR are gratefully received! :) Does anyone else want to share? I'll willingly post ours once it's complete.

Also, can anyone confirm that when both halves of a married couple are declaring, you just split the 'outgoings' in half, so you each have 50% on your own SOA? Or is there a better way of doing this? At the moment I pay all outgoings as DH is self employed (just started), hence no definate amounts coming in for the budget yet. I'm sure they'll be a simple way to do this - it's giving me a headache at the moment :)
Slightly worried that they will take too much of my supposed 'disposable' income when hubby doesn't have any work on, leaving us unable to pay the rent!

Bankruptcy - the 'Easy Way Out'?? My ar#*!!!

    Thanks in advance guys xx

    Hi moonlitshadow,

We were declared bankrupt as a couple and prepared a household budget rather than two seperate ones. This is the acceptable format and really simplifies things; you have two entries in the income section so yours would be: Salary £xxxx Earnings from Self Employment £xxxx

If you don't know what the earnings from self employment will be then an estimate is acceptable, better to estimate on the low side because it can be revised later.

I don't think I can include half of that cos we don't pay out all them things anyway!
haven't been to the dentist in over 10 yrs as I can't afford it. When OH needed new glasses we made insurance claim as he has really strong prescription and his lenses are about £250 without a frame!! I need new glasses but they have to wait !
haircuts: luckliy free as I trained as a hairdresser so cut my own and OH s
Our food bill is about £300 a month but that includes school dinners and OH tobacco but it does put us over our incoming so I reckon Ill adjust it down as none of the other figures are inflated!

I rang court yesterday to see if I could book appoint for early feb when we will have the fees saved (and gulp had our holiday!!! naughty feel sick about it !) but she said Oh we don't make appointments that far ahead as we normally see you with in the week! so I ll have to wait to make appointment!

Just had letter from natwest charging us £38 for bouncing the loan direct debit (we have with them too!) so reckon they gonna come knocking soon!

No way...Claim for dentist, docs, glasses haircuts etc etc... they are allowed and are normal expenditure... They are not going to want reciepts of you... You must try and put them down, even if it is for the future.. what would you do if you needed urgent dental treatment, or your hair perm :p went badly wrong !!! youd have to pay !
  • yeah but if I put all them things down then we will be way way over our incomings at the mo I have to take £58 off the shopping I put down!!!

Mike St Helens, I have enquired about insurance but havent taken out yet. i live in a flat so didnt bother with insurance. I asked to put it on my IVA and got told to "takeit out of your contingency for now until the review". yeah, right!

I dont want to inflate the figures, I just want to know what is reasonable and what I can claim for. Dont want to leave myself short. I dont have a car so quite a few of the expenses you mention wouldnt apply anyway.

Dont have SKY either, make do with Freeview.

Are you allowed anything for entertainment or does that come from what you have left from surplus?

You are not under investigation.. If they do ask refuse.

Try make the figures balance... Again dont worry too much, what you put there isnt set in stone, you can discuss with the OR and they can adjust if required. It isnt a ridgid process.

yeah SKY is a no no.. you have to pay that yourself.

Buildings insurance is quirte cheap.. Why not take a policy out and if you dont need it later on, then canx it... (Quidco are doing £60 cashback with free travel insurance at the moment with Direct line!!)

    It wont even be mentioned....

Dont get too involved about what they may or may not say.. As long as you are telling the truth.. then there is nothing at all to worry about . Rog2 & others will stand by me with this...
