Just make sure that you include something for clothing - you may need to buy a new jumper or coat, plus I am sure there are things like TV licence that you should include (even 50% if OH pays half).I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Thanks Rog2
The house belongs to my Mother. We live separate lives in the same house.
We work out the outgoings for gas, electric, water, council tax and tv licence and divide it by two - hence the £20 per week.
I have my own telephone line, and my Mother has hers.
There is only one tv in the house, one vcr and one broadband line - all my Mother's. I link my laptop to her wireless broadband system.
Fortunately, I don't smoke. I cannot drink alcohol, even if I wanted to , due to the medication I take for my arthritis.
I have no children, just 2 cats.
I shouldn't get an IPA anyway, since my only income is State Benefits. Until I have surgery I will not be able to work - I need surgery on my hands, which they don't want to do because I am only 43. I am seeing a new surgeon on 7/12/06 who is young and hip and might just decide to do something to help.
When the debt counsellors did the work on my IVA (whilst I was still working) they added £20 per month towards clothes. I could do that, I guess.
They also added £20 for "incidentals", which I should do too.0 -

I literally cannot afford to pay for anything else.
I have no savings, my private pension is worth about £5000, that's it, nothing else to declare.
I understand exactly what you are saying, but the fact that you can not afford to pay for something does not necessarily mean that it is not essential.
I think we all run the risk of 'tailoring' our outgoings to our incomings - my current incomings are genuinely nil, as I was refused even Job Seekers Allowance. My wife has been subsidising the household expenditure from her £800 per month salary and her limited savings, which are now all but gone. I don't think, in my case, that the OR will expect my wife to continue this 'subsidising' and niether would I.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. hi im not 100% on my decision of bankrupcy but can someone direct me to where i would get the forms and what order things happen in please i like to know what to expect before i do anything set in stone.
do u think if i done the forms this week it would happen before xmas?0 -
The forms are at https://www.insolvency.gov.uk
You need to phone your local County Court and make an appointment FIRST! I had to wait four weeks for my date.
When submitting the online form the DAY BEFORE you have your Court date, it allows you to print off the form. You actually do BOTH.
It will take you around two weeks to complete the online form since it is very involved. It requires full details of your creditors, addresses, etc.
The other posts on this thread will tell you everything you need to know re timing etc. but it is basically
1. Make your date with the Court
2. Take your forms on the appointed date and pay your money.
Declared bankrupt.
3. Meeting with the OR, usually by telephone.
OR decides on IPA, etc, sorts out your affairs.
4. You may be given an Early Discharge

Hi Guys
Im home and still in one piece :j
well i arrived at court at 10.30am was taken into a room by a bankruptcy clerk (really nice lady) who checked over all my paperwork and explained that she would take the compleated forms into the judge and then he would stamp them (i didnt even haft to go into court!)and to wait as she would then give me my copies and tell me when the OR would be contacting me .I was in and out within 15 mins.
I dont quite know what i was expecting but it was compleatly stress and hasstle free and needless to say the relief is overwhelming that at least what i thought would be the worst part is now over.
Also the clerk asked me if any of my bank accounts were basic ones as these would not be frozen much to my suprise .Official DFW NERD 189
I may be a woman but dont hold it against me:D
Officially declared Br 6/11/06
Discharged Br 4/5/07 (6 months to the day)

Glad to hear you are back in one piece...thanks for the details of your 'appearance' in court (or not, as it turns out!) - good to know that it went well for you.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
