Technically by the letter you should as it is an account, however if there is no credit on it the OR wouldnt be interested, as it is prepaid and there would be no money owing on it.

You would only have to declare it if it has a credit balance, as you would have to declare the actual cash.

  • OK, so I have nearly completed the forms:

    1. I am applying for HB & CTC; someone has suggested that I only put actual income, not projected, on SOA. Is this right? I don't want to be accused of falsely underestimating income
    2. 'Cards in your posession' - I have some cards which have my name on them, but I am not named on the account. i.e. I am a second card holder. I've listed them, but then had to say Ben is a joint account holder, which isn't true, he is the sole account holder. Is it right to list these cards, or to leave them off, and just hand the cards to the OR on the day?

Feel a bit rubbish. Went to see bank manager at Barclays (who we have no debt with) to explain and ask about our current account. He was all doom and gloom about how difficult bankruptcy makes life and are we sure we know what we are doing  - if we weren't sure, does he not think we would have come up with a less humiliating solution to our financial issues?

If you are a second card holder, you do not need to mention them at all. Those debts are not in your name. If Ben is going BR too, then hand them over to the OR with his as he will have had to mention the debts on his forms.

With HB and CTC, mention that you are applying for them, but you should put down actual figures. Figures you put down are not cast in stone and are not what will be the basis for the next few years. During your interview with the OR, you can explain in more detail what you have put on the forms. The OR will come up with a budget with you - the forms are a good outline of expenditure.

And dont worry about feeling rubbish - its the barclays managers job to be doom and gloom!
  • thanks charlotte664 - How are the girls names coming? My dd Millie is just 1 year old, and I am 6 weeks pregnant. Go bankrupt on Tuesday x
  • can someone please tell me -
I picked up the forms from court for my BR, but I've noticed a few people here mentioning doing them online and printing off three copies. I have only been given one copy from the court. Why is this? Am I supposed to make loads of photocopies?

You can either fill in the one from the court and photocopy it 3 times, or do the online one and print it 3 times, its up to you. Eitherway you will need to take 3 copies with you on the day.

Dont worry about your SOA too much, it is not set in stone, and can be changed at anytime if needs be.

  • Last year I took out a loan and with the money, paid for a three year re-training course in a subject that I love and so in a few years time I might actually get a job that I like! Thing is, what will happen when I go BR? I paid for the course fully with the loan. It wasn't a student loan or a CDL, just a stright up loan. Will my course be ok, can they stop me from doing it somehow?
