I've just been to see the CAB. I cant get an appointment until the New Year to go over my figures but have been advised that birthdays, xmas etc will not be accepted by the OR so that leaves a bit of a dent in my I&E.0

Question 4 - assets
I've listed my endowment (haven't been paying it for 3 or 4 years as I'm making the most of the Waiver of Premium option on it), my Personal Pension that only gets payments into it by whomever (not me I can tell you) as once upon a time I opted out and a piddly frozen Occupational Pension (all of about £400 at the mo) that I can't get refunded to me.
Oh and my car, for what its worth.
I'm not including my 'puter as resale value is negligible, ditto tv.
What other examples has anyone got of things to include?
Question 5 - my Car
According to Parkers, (its a 96 Hyundai Coupe, and automatic) its worth £1700 on a private sale, poor condition - I think you'd be hard pushed to get that with the (inherited) scratches to bodywork and tears to leather interior. Plus there is an amount of work that needs doing to the electrics.
I'm planning on putting a value of £1000 - do you think that is reasonable?
Also, if the OR questions my keeping it, can I argue that to get a reliable car that is automatic for less would be tough?
I need an automatic due to mobility issues (I also need the air con due to unregulated body temperature control but I suspect he wouldn't believe that). If I don't have my own car, I am technically a prisonoer in my own home. I cannot walk any distance, I cannot use public transport (ie busses) due to noise sensitivites/cognitive confusion, taxi's seem a rediculous expense. Do you think my car is safe?
Question 6 - my endowment
a huge surrender value today of approx 6k! Any way you think I would be able to convince the OR not to surrender it? Due to my health problems, I am unlikely to ever be able to get other health insurance in the future, and whether or not I may ever work again is an unknown (I'm only in my early 30s), my endowment policy is essentially my future health cover and pension, (there is no property to which it relates any more).
thanks again peeps, soa coming soonBCSC # 29 - BRD 29/11/06ED 31/08/07 phew!

Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy o fthe OR guidelines on income/expenditure allowed? The CAB didnt have one0

Here is the tech manual that OR's have to abide to ...

The CAB as ive said before, are very good at what they do. However they can be incorrect a lot of the time.0 -

The house we live in is in my OH name, I am nothing to do with it, in fact, when he bought the house I had to sign a waiver to any rights (forget what its called).
The way we work it out, cos he's working and I can't due to long term illness, is that he pays the mortgage and I pay the household bills. I guess he pays for most of the food/household sundries too, but I am going to include them (my half) in my soa. I (in theory cos it doesn't always happen what with trying previously not to get behind with paying creditors so OH bailed me out on the household bills) pay money into his account each month and the dd's all come from that account.
Question is, on my soa what is the best way forward? Do I:
1 - show I pay rent to my OH - thus no beneficial interest in the property
2 - show all the household bills but no rent/mortgage
3 - prorata the total household cost (mtg and bills) for the amount I pay?
I'm currently going with the 2nd option as that to me is the most clear. What do you think?
Question 2 - we have a number of pedigree cats. I have them all insured (not with the cheapest insurer I appreciate). Insurance and Food/Litter costs around £200 pm. How do I best reflect that in my soa in a manner that will be acceptable to the OR?
Question 3 - pensions, sorry, I know this was covered recently, but my head hurts and I can't find the reply..... I think they do not take that into account with regard to assets, is that correct?
Thanks guys n gals

sandra - so if i have to reduce my soa to exclude the OH and take off birthdays as scootw1 said they are not included, does that mean i have to include the money he gives me evry wekk to help with the bills? do i have to readjust all the figures to exclude him out of the soa altogether - I'm getting in a right old pickle now...............coupon over here, coupon over there, every crack filled with coupons even down there(meaning under the buggy lol):D0

I'm confused now as the offical manual for the OR states that a holiday allowance is applicable, the CAB told me no. Who is right?0
