I remember my mum got a Morris Minor, for her 50th birthday. I was told it was a ' millionth ' edition, and it was lilac. Lilac jalopy, they used to call it. I've often wished i had that car, now. Have to google that, as well.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Sorry to but in, but my first car in about 1978 was a Mini Clubman estate - the traveller sort - and we travelled all over on holiday in that, including many trips from Newcastle to Cornwall. We also had a Mk II Cortina in about 1984, and a Hillman Imp in about 1989 - love the older cars :j :j :j :j Before I drove, first husband had an MBG-GT which I would love to drive now

Ah there we go
In February 1961 the Morris Minor became the first British car to sell over 1,000,000 units. (In Italy the Fiat 600 notched up its first million in the same month.[7])To commemorate the achievement, a limited edition of 350 two-door Minor saloons was produced with distinctive lilac paintwork and a white interior. Also the badge name on the side of the bonnet was modified to read "Minor 1,000,000" instead of the standard "Minor 1000".
I wonder what happened to my mums, jalopyDebt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Just edited my post - it was a Mark II Cortina we had - silver grey and could open the lock with a lolly stick - I can't count the number of times it was stolen - it got to the point where we would go shopping in Newcastle in the car, park it up, do our shopping, and get the bus home, then wait for the police to call us when it was found :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Lovely to drive thoughMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

brother's was green. We had a photo somewhere. probably still at my Mum's house.
My brother had some nice cars. At one stage, he was driving this huge American left hand drive car. No idea why! I think Brother liked his cars.0 -

Sorry guys, I seem to have lost connection, for half an hour there.
My mum had a mini traveller too. It was grey. Come to think of it, they must have always been changing their cars! They had a cortina mark one, i think, white with a green stripe? with the diamondish shape indicators, was that a mark one? a cortina in bright yellow, i remember a cresta in grey and green stripes,a ford consul in white and green, ermm what else? :rotfl:
I always wanted an MG midget, as opposed to the MGB-GT, when i was in my youth. It was always my dream to have a sports car. I've been lucky enough to drive a ferrari, maserati, and a lotus elise. I went on one of those driving experiences, a long time ago. We got to drive a fire engine, too and surprisingly, i got the most enjoyment out of driving that, because it was something completely different from what i'm used to.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

yes, think it was cortina mk1 that had green stripe. Brother definitely had mk2.
Wow to drive a fire engine! think that would be a lot more interesting than driving a maserati. They are great but only on long open roads with NO ONE else around!0
