I fell asleep at laptop, lost 2 hours of cleaning time. Woke up, saw what you had posted, replied and went to bed, to not get much sleep. DS not well, kept me awake.

Oh no, i never got to do the Great Ocean Road, but would like to. I backpacked for 4 months. Started in Sydney, went up to Darwin, and then worked my way back round the coast from Darwin to Brisbane, the Whitsundays, barrier reef and all that. Then flew to Melbourne, and worked my way back up to Sydney. So i've not visited Ayres rock either, and i'd like to do the west coast. But what are the chances of me carrying a 70 litre rucksack again? lol let alone, having the funds to finish my trip to Oz and NewZealand? Fairly remote. The odds are stacked against it. Thinking about it, the Whitsundays was the most chilled and happiest time of my life.

Glasgow is well worth a visit now, after the regeneration, as are most cities, i guess. I've visited the Falkirk wheel, too, the opposite end of the spectrum, from the Anderton boat lift at Northwich.

My heart belongs to the east coast of england, coastal scenery wise, in this country. You can't beat Flamborough Head, and the bird sanctuaries, too.

Hmm, maybe i'm too much of a free spirit

Oooh, you saw more of Australia than me! I was only there 3 weeks but managed to do Melbourne, Brisbane, The Gold Coat, The Great Ocean Road, Adelaide and Sydney before coming home for a break.

I was trying to convince my 2 sister's to go via the Falkirk Wheel when we went to Perth on a flying visit last year but they decided it wasn't their thing and we were not away long enough to fit it in.

I was brought up in Fenland with it's wonderful dark soil and know the Norfolk Coast reasonably well. Parts of it are beautiful and seem to be from a different era. But I have fallen in love with the South Coast and find, from here, it is more accessible.

We seem to enjoy a love of travel :T And if it can be done on a budget it is even better :D

I have family in Scotland so visit fairly often. Mum was from Loch Long and Dad was brought up in Glasgow.

I feel at home there :D

Last years trip we came up on Saturday, did a family reunion lunch on Sunday (Murryshall House Hotel near Scone) and went home again Monday. A bit manic really, prefer doing it over a few more days but sometimes we don't have the available holiday from work between us. Last year we had a cottage in Blairgowrie for a few days which was much better.

LOL, theres only one way to travel, and thats on a budget! The longer you get for your money, the better. It probably sounds like i've spent an inordinate amount of money, because i've visited so many places, but nothing could be further from the truth. I don't think i've ever stayed in a luxurious hotel, in my life. In fact, i think if any hotel fitted that category, it was the ' budget ' hotel i stayed at in Singapore, on the way out to Oz. It was out of this world, but then, that typifies Singapore.

So long as the bed has been clean at the backpackers, i've stayed at, i've been happy. Easily pleased ! Backpackers bed bugs, lol

Scotland's great for sailing. I've been yachting from Oban round the Isle of Mull, and visited tobermory, and a few distilleries thrown in, of course. Got to be done, lol I've been sailing somewhere else up there, but i can't rightly remember, at the moment. Now, where was it?
