Life after bankruptcy?

He had a better night, thankyou. Only woke me once, he wakes up a lot during the night, but doesn't always call me.
How are you feeling now?0 -
I'm glad you got a better nights sleep Aesop x
Never quite sure if i have feelings, anymore. I just go through the motions, well, except for paying £1.97 for a melon. Definite pangs of guilt, there.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

I don't have a problem with eating melon, just with paying £1.97 for it. Some of us have to think hard before buying luxury food, ( albeit melon ).
Clarification - The last time i bought melons with any regularity, they cost 60p. Then they went up to £1, at which point, i stopped buying them. I did get some off the reduced stand, a while ago. Two in a bag for 50p. Nothing wrong with them. Perfectly ok. But unfortunately, that was a one off. I just fancied one today, but i can't really afford one. I certainly would'nt buy them pre packaged and cut into slices.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

We all think hard before buying any food, let alone luxury food. I have a DH who has to have meat 7 days a week, I am happy to eat it a few days a week. I have to consider all costs, and where to buy it from before I buy it. Have done ever since I had DS.
My poor friend who lost her 2nd child, said to me on Friday, she is going to be living on a very tight budget for the next year. This is going to be strange to her, she is used to 2-3 holidays a year, £75 colouring her hair, etc, etc. I have told her she needs to get a user id and start using MSE a lot more to help her live frugally.
Especially using the coupon thread here
I may yet convert one of my friends to MSE.
Ok, so you don't feel these days. How are you coping?0 -
Steve and Andy took me to the market and so did Erika you save a lot of money on fruit there. i bought 2pounds of nice lychees for £2.00 in A@da/Tosco they would have cost £2.00 for 12!!!!Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

I am very fortunate that where I live, we still have a traditional Greengrocers. I know one of the guys who works there as his wife is a customer of mine, and he has been seeing us around for a long time.
He has been great recently, giving DS a free banana when I am buying stuff there or just walking past and the other day I bought bananas and veg, and the whole bag only cost me £3! That was very generous of him! To be honest, they aren't that expensive, even their strawberries in the summer are cheaper than sainsburys and they are local produce.0 -
My sister now works 4 days a week and has the time to shop around for the best deals.
For those of us working full time (and then some) it is much easier to do all the shopping in one place...... just not very MSE really :j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

I am very lucky that I have a Netto, Sainsbury's, Iceland, Waitrose, all within walking distance. And a Lidl a bus ride away.
Saying that, there are times I cannot be bothered, and will just shop at Sainsbury's, as that is closest to me and easier.
However, realising how tight my budget was getting, especially with VAT going up, have started shopping around again more. Bit of a hassle, especially with DS, and having to use the bus, but worth it for me for the money saved.0 -
Blimey you are lucky A to have all those shops near you.
