I lurve my new toy, ( book.) :D

What i want to know is? did you read it first? Come on - spill the beans. I'm not saying it looks dog eared, because it doesn't look as though it's been read? Nah - i bet you read it. :rotfl::rotfl:

Just to cheer you all up, and help reduce those colonies of little buga's, i shall, err, publish on a daily basis, all you ever wanted to know about slugs and how to kill or outwit the gardens number one enemy, ( and definitely mine.)

I think this one is hilarious, so i may give this a try first of all :rotfl::rotfl:

    Entitled Traps

GET THEM DEAD DRUNK - ( this one is for you kerrigt,) when you come home from the pub. :D

" For those of you whose karma may be rocked by slug slaying, this is the method for you...what nicer way for a slug to go?"

    1) Fill a shallow bowl with beer ( Michelob and Budweiser are thought to have a high sucess rate) and place it strategically in an area of high slug activity.

    2) Wait overnight

    3) Slugs love a slurp of stale beer. Once in it, they'll drown.

    4) Disposing of the slugged brew can be a messy business. A simple solution is to add it to your compost heap. ( instructions on how to make a slug compost heap to follow.) :D

Now. I 've got some ginger beer somewhere. Seriously, i think this could entertain me. :rotfl:

Hey you, I just logged in to catch up and here you are casting aspersions over my good character :p:pMy friend suggested this to me too, although I'd prob find out cat out having a good slurp :rotfl: Saw on Superscrimpers that slimey things are attracted to bran - apparently if you scatter bran flakes or something round an upturned lettuce leaf at night you'll find them all under there the next morning and can collect and 'dispose' of as you wish.

Hope your lavender pops up somewhere, it's hardy stuff so should have come through the bad weather.

  • logged in today to see how you are doing, i dont want you to think that i am stalking you - you just seem to describe beautifully the ups and downs of my life recently and you have become a bit of a talisman.

i laughed at your slug catcher - my best was ten year old boys, torches and buckets with sand in.... cruel but essential if the kids were to get fresh veg. I was a poor single parent under Thatcher... it was the slugs or the salad!

I am curious to know what the book is... i have an ipad that gets kindles and the only book i have paid for is the Hunger Games. I read the whole trilogy in one setting

i got another letter from ATOS today reminding me to send their bloody form in. So I gritted my teeth and its done. The committee that came up with that form are a load of sadistic eugenicists in my opinion. If I was well enough to go back to work I bloody well would Mr Cameron!

See, my fugue like depression has lifted and I may even start my diary tonight

Anyway Ani 26, I am delighted to see you in fighting form, cos so am I and you lit my way in my dark hours, weeks and months of crushing depression

    peace be

I wonder if this works with oats? I have lots of oats. :D

I'm reluctant to part with any of my lettuce leaves, as i realised how dire my financial situation is, last night. IE, no spending money until next friday, " pay day ". I'm going under again, for sure.

It's the sc factor, unfortunately? although i can't see they would chomp on lavender? They're mad. Must be. Maybe it's me, because i can't remember where i planted it. :o

The book is " 50 ways to kill a slug " by Sarah Ford, published by Hamlyn. Hunger Games. Never heard of that. Google is my friend. :D

Exactly. Who wants to be like this? I should try and put atos out of my mind, for now. It's a constant worry though, when you know you can potentially be made to do something you're simply not capable of.

Pleased to be of assistance xx Not sure about the fightng form, though. :o Still, maybe i'm just one of those nutters who is still fighting, even when they are crawling on their hands and knees? Everyone has their moments, though. Don't they?

if its lavander you need I have cuttings ready for next spring. I send them in vacuum bags - and could send it to anywhere.... I'll leave that thought with you. Lavander is best in pots in my opinion, mind you I never heard of sc's munching it so maybe you just lost it

I do my lettuce in pots indoors in a window, cut it when i need it and sow again, works most ways through the year ... same with herbs and peppers. Going to carrots in pots next year. Its not too late to plant salad

thank you for coming to my diary
    xx

    just seen your post
yup the atos form is history, i had support with it and its up to them now. I know the system and have access to appropriate intervention should they get it wrong....

I am desperately curious about your car, i love older cars and had a couple of old Alpha Romeos, totally in love with them. I am almost as curious about whether you are a man or a woman because I dont think you have let it slip, or if you did I missed it. There is no gender bias in your writing to give it away. I think thats interesting and very skilled

I hope you have a lovely Sunday
    xx

I will be back later, as i have decided a trip to the launderette is in order, whilst the sun is trying to put its hat on. There goes another £3. :(

I would have thought it was unlikely the sc's had munched it, too. :o May well take you up on the offer of lavender. :)

Originally i was going to do the same, if you don't mind having window sills full of, err, edible vegetation. :rotfl:I'll definitely have to bring all my tomato plants in, at some point. I decided not to put my " new " pepper plants outside. Not got onto the c yet though. That seems to be very popular, these days. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Guaranteed to send your electricity bill through the roof? (scuse pun.):rotfl:

Atos, atos, atos. Don't you just get fed up of it? Although i should be thankful i am one of the chosen few? I still haven't managed to establish exactly why, even though i've asked for a report / esa85. Still need as much evidence as possible for dla appeal.

Alfa's? :rotfl: Didn't they traditionally spend more time off the road, than they did on the road? :p:rotfl:Don't see many these days. :)
